Hey guys,

I've been playing dwarfs for a while (unfortunately only against isengard) and i found that the shield wall of the dwarfs is awesome. My friend against who i played is always terrified by the wide wall of D7 warriors, with the archers behind it.
I just move them 2,5 inch every turn forward and if they get close I retreat 2,5 inch and make my line as wide as possible. when we clash I fold my dwarf around his tight phalanx and destroy his pike support. To deal with trolls I use some khazad guard and some ironguard.

this works rather well against expensive troops such as: Easterlings and Isengard but I'm a little worried what to do against swarm armies like Goblins.

please advise.

P.S.: this is my army list

dwarf captain + shield...65
dwarf captain...60
6x ironguard...90
6x khazad guard...66
12x dwarf warrior + shield...108
12x dwarf warrior + dwarf bow...108

total points: 497
total models: 38 (12 dwarf bows, 6 throwing axes)
break point: 19
total might: 4

I don't think you have much to worry about in terms of goblins per se. you have 38 models which is plenty. Don't be afraid to use bowmen in hand to hand combat too.

What I would be concerned about is the lack of strong heroes in the force for any kind of LoME games which require strong heroes like Contest of Champions or To Kill a King.

I believe that Master Gimli recommended having all your dwarves 'filthy' was helpful when it comes to beating opponents...

:P

When playing against hordes you shouldn't have too many problems. Your frontage is somewhat large, so the goblins will have a few problems trapping you, and your bowmen could always help out. I've always fielded low numbers and had to use my bowmen to help out. You will be quite dependent on your Guards to take on any tough heroes, or trolls. Magic may be an issue though.

thanks!

I'm not afraid to use my archers in melee they fare very well in combat excually.

about heroes, i totally agree with you. for that kind of things i replace my captains for gimli with elven cloak (witch helps against nasty evil magic like transfix and compel) and 3 more dwarf warriors (2 shields, 1 bow)

Sorry about being late.

Also With the force I'd say drop both captains, get Gimli and a banner bearer. It would give them re rolls against the pike or shield wall.
