Post subject:  The Balchoth - New unit for Easterlings

The Balchoth were a fierce race of Easterlings who hated the men of Gondor, and as the Easterling list lacks somewhat variety, I thought I'd create some profiles for all you Easterling gamers.

Balchoth Warrior :

A Balchoth Warrior is equipped with a sharp rusty sword (hand weapon) and wears armour.

Points Value : 15

F SD A W C
4/-4 5 2 1 7

Upgrades:

Two Handed Sword (This replaces their hand weapon) 1pt

Special Rules :

Burning Hatred : The Balchoth are a race of easterlings who spit on the race of men. To show this, when attacking Warriors of Minas Tirith / Warriors of Rohan the Balchoth get +1 to wound in combat.
___________

I've based the warrior on the berserker (showing the high courage and strength) and I wanted to make a warrior who's statline wasn't overpowered.. but could potentially kill a warrior of gondor/rohan with a 4 up ( Due to the Two Handed Weapon and Special rule)

Comments are much appreciated.

Thanks..

John

I'm thinking that lack of variety is part of the flavour of some lists.

If all the armies were designed to be equal, the game would be called Chess.

EDIT - The Easterlings have pretty close ties to Khandish forces, and you've just created another type of warrior with a two-handed weapon, in order to have variety.

With S4, that would actually kill a Gondorian/Rohan warrior on a 3+ (5+ normal, two-handed weapon, special rule). And if those warriors of Rohan didn't have shields... yikes.

If you read Tolkiens work released by his son, you'll find out that the charioteers and axemen of khand (like GW released them) are Easterlings as well. So according to me you should put these two lists together if you want an (expanded) Easterling list. Actually the lists and models GW released are not (always) (entirely) (completely) according to the books. Even combining them with Dunlanders (just for the models, not fluffwise) might be acceptable as well, using them as the less armed ones.

Though houserules can be fun too!
