u can check the tomes of wisdom there is an article about isenguard there
protect ur phalanx flanks , they are weak
never put ur captain in the front row ( magic pulled mine once out of my phalanx - then cavalary charged my phalanx - so i couldn't help him - result captain got killed).
That's the main thing i got so far - only played once with them on a tournament. I was glad i had some warg riders. Few more ranged units might have helped i think.
Phalanxes are really powerfull.

Crossbows RULES!! seriously!
But remember to bring orc spears to boost your numbers.
Beserkers may seem pricey but when spear supported you match many heroes with your F4, S4, A3

Berserkers have a two handed weapon so spears can't support them and no the old 'one or two handed' rule is gone now, you have Ferals for that instead.

But seriously get Ferals and back them up with spears.

Berzerkers are still armed with hand weapons and can use them and avoid the penalty for using 2 handers, and can then also be supported as normal. Their description, unlike Clansmen of Lamedon does not state that they are otherwise unarmed.

I'm afraid FireKnife I have to disagree. The only models who count as unarmed when NOT fighting two handed say so in their stats e.g. clansmen of Lamedon.
Ferals are good too I agree. I like mixing in a few if I have taken Vrasku (who is MINT) but i prefere beserkers as they are harder to kill and higher courage

Only clansmen of Lamdeon and Galadriel( Also i think Celeborn) are consider to be unarmed

Anyway as for tactics: Isengard is of the only armies in the game that can win games with nothing but brute force, alot of people look at an Uruk list and go "no named heroes, no magic users? HA" But in reality an isengard list does not need all of those things to function.

However my suggestion is get a shaman, put him in your ranks and have him cast fury, then get vrasku, he's the best Uruk hero around. Warg riders are good, just don't give em throwin spears. Saruman is s
awesome bu he cuts in to your points alot, almost too much to make a great army, Grima however will make saruman worth the purchase IMO :)

(+mine got shields and throwings spears = better combination or not?)

They have an awful shoot value and the throwing spears are no good once their on foot, meaning they will rarely pay their points back.

So hang on, on all models it either states that they have a hand weapon and can add a THW (Orc Warriors) or that they can use it as both (Elven Blades) so if a model only has a two handed weapon then they can only use it as such.

In fact the rulebook has in the Berzerker entry 'carries a two-handed sword' and the rules for two-handed weapons state (pg.44) 'If a model is fighting with a two handed weapon it automatically suffers a -1....' and it goes on to say the rest of the rules. So the Berzerker only has a THW and it is put as automatically in the rules, thus it is a two handed weapon with no back up hand weapon and it isn't an Elven Blade. Otherwise it would make the Ferals worse for their points as they can only attack as though they have a single hand weapon, albiet with two Attacks.

Now unless they have had an update since the One Rulebook that i haven't seen then they have a THW, nothing more than a THW.It has no special rules to indicate otherwise.

The rules book says very clearly that every model comes with a hand weapon, on top of what is in their profile, unless if they are listed as "unarmed" so beserkers DO have a hand weapon.

The rulebook does not state this clearly, which is the source of the confusion. However, it is clarified in the FAQ. FireKnife, you need to download that from GW's website. You'll see that models have a hand weapon unless they specifically use the term "unarmed".

True, but before that FAQ it was possible to argue a conflict in the rules, glad they ironed it out though, too bad they couldn't actually change the rulebook to get rid of the conflict.
