Firstly, thankyou to LonelyKnight for compiling such a fantastic spreadsheet. You deserve a cookie.

Here's an army list I was thinking of building up to. What do you think?

Aragorn, Isildur's Heir

Elladan and Elrohir with Heavy Armour
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
8 High Elf Warriors with Shield & Spear
2 High Elf Warriors with Elven Blade

Arwen with Elven Cloak and a Horse
10 High Elf Warriors with Elf Bow and Spear
2 High Elf Warriors with Shield and Spear

And then I was either going to go for

Glorfindel with Armour of Gondolin
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
9 High Elf Warriors with Shield and Spear
2 High Elf Warriors with Elven Blades

Which brings it to 1007pts

OR

Erestor
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
9 High Elf Warriors with Shield and Spear
2 High Elf Warriors with Elven Blades

Dunedain with Spear
Dunedain with Spear

Which comes to 997 pts and full 33% bows.

What do you think?

Erestor and his warband but only because he causes terror and gets re-rolled failed wounds. Also, im not sure about mounting arwen when she is the only thing with a horse. it defeats the purpose of having a elf cloak as they dont work from horseback (pg 46 -main rulebook). Other than that, looks like a good solid list. hope you are good at fighting as you are going to be outnumbered by at least 2-1 in most games.

Haha, you make a good point. I'll take her on foot, then.

Elves are always outnumbered though, right?

Wood elves aren't. Oh, and against full cavalry forces they're outnumbering the cavalry.

Here is my Rivendell army:

Elrond
4x High Elves w/ Elven Bow
4x High Elves w/ Spear and Shield
4x High Elves w/ Elven Blade

Elladan & Elrohir w/ Heavy Armour
High Elf Banner Bearer
4x High Elves w/ Elven Bow
4x High Elves w/ Spear and Shield
2x High Elves w/ Elven Blade

Glorfindel w/ Armour of Gondolin
4x High Elves w/ Elven Bow
4x High Elves w/ Spear and Shield
4x High Elves w/ Elven Blade

I also have some extra heroes that I swap around sometimes:
Erestor (cheaper than a captain but twice as effective)
High Elf Captain (cheap yet effective)
Gil Galad (great to take advantage of the kings guard rule)

This is just my main army but hopefully you can get an idea and build it around somewhat :)

What are your main weaknesses with that army, Imladris96?

I have about the same army, it does really well. Elrond is a beast with Renew on his sons and Glorfindel. In my army, I actually use Arwen because I like the family theme but that is neither here or there for this. ~Brian

Guys, i'd still advise using elves with shields, and elves with bows and spears. Oh, and you should use way less blades, around 2 a warband

I'd rather not have to convert every miniature I have to have a shield and hand weapon for the sake of 2-3 extra models worth of points.

Don't use more than 2 out of 12 with Elven Blades.

Warband 1 3/12
Elladan and Elrohir with Heavy armour;
2 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
----
Warband 2 12/12
Arwen
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
5 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
2 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade;
4 High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow; Spear;
----
Warband 3 12/12
High Elf Stormcaller
2 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
2 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade;
8 High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow; Spear;
----
Warband 4 12/12
Erestor
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
9 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
2 High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade;
----
Warband 1
Aragorn - Strider with Armour;

That any better? Elrond seems a little expensive for what he is. 44 models, 1000 pts.

I like the theme, but I think both Aragorn and the Twins is a bit much. Without Aragorn you could flesh out the Twins' warband, give Arwen a cloak (important), and maybe even ally in a Lothlorien stormcaller...or swap the High Elf stormcaller for a Lothlorien one, and take 12 WE with spear and TD, with Gildor to replace Erestor and upgrade the wood elves to exiles. I think this would give you more numbers and more punch.

But if you're really committed to the siblings and in-laws theme, you might benefit from dropping a banner. A couple more spears to back up the twins, and the third model unhampered, might serve you better.

I was playing around and came up with this. Any better?

Warband 1 12/12
High Elf Captain with Shield;
2 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
10 High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow; Spear;
----
Warband 2 12/12
Erestor
1 High Elf Warrior with Banner
11 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
----
Warband 3 12/12
Elladan and Elrohir with Heavy armour;
11 High Elf Warrior with Shield; Spear;
----
Warband 4 1/12
Arwen with Horse;
1 High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow; Spear;
----
Warband 5 1/12
Aragorn - Strider with Horse; Armour;

Comes to 1000pts exactly. Which armies am I going to have a problem fighting? (Don't say all of them :P )

Putting Arwen on a horse makes her an arrow magnet. She needs a cloak, not a horse.

Is it that big of a deal though? The mounted sculpt is really nice, it'd be a shame not to use it.

I've never played her....but I thought a horse might help her stay out of range of Will sapping Nazguls, and better position her Nature's Wrath to include only models with no Will to resist. And behind two rows of troops, doesn't In The Way make her reasonably safe from arrows? I won't buy her on a horse if those theories don't work in practice.

Fair enough points. I've not had an issue with placing a Nature's Wrath right where I want it with her on foot, but avoiding Nazgul might be a good enough reason to take a horse, if her doughty guards can't keep her safe. Plus--to bolster your point--the horse is kind of like a Fate point if she does get shot. Personally though, I'd rather she not be a target at all.

Aragorn - Strider with Horse; Armour;

1000pts, 42 units, just over 50% bows.

I've hit on that for my themed army - I'm sure it'll be ripped apart in close combat, but I'm hoping 22 3+ bows will be able to do some damage before they get to me, and 13+1 might is a pretty good pool for keeping out of trouble and picking fights - giving Arwen a horse means she can stay out of trouble and whip around to cast one or two decent Nature's Wrath spells, and similarly Aragorn's horse should allow his free might point gets the best coverage. Oh and they act as fate points too, in a way.

:D

So many expensive Hero Fighters, and so little magic. Consider Gandalf or Saruman. The pure High Elf list seemed more promising than 13 High Elf shields and the rest archers...but it is a nice theme. Most scenarios will be very challenging with this army...
