In my MoM rule book, it doesn't say whether or not models giving spear support can or cannot be suffer wounds if they lose a fight. My thoughts are probably not, as they are not in base contact with the enemy. Am I right? Just seeking clarification, thanks

No, spearmen do not count as part of the fight, they add an extra d6 to the guy in front, you cannot strike a supporting spearmen.

The only exception is Sauron, as it says in his entry.

Gothmog is spot on, I was going to add the extra rule for Sauron too but he got there first
