When the Hobbit miniature were released I was glad to have some new army lists for the SBG. I have decided to lavish real effort in painting the new range of miniatures to the best of my ability, which has meant that I am only know able to field a small army of Good and Evil, most of which have not seen the light of a gaming table.

Has anyone out there found any knock out combo's with which to attack the enemy or a particular force with?

Also has anyone suffered from or identified a particular weakness in a Hobbit army, or that a Hobbit army is tailor made to exploit?

(By Hobbit army I refer to armies recently release with the new film!).

I would encourage everyone to have a go, and let me know how its going? As the range expands, the games will alter and I suspect that we can get some really whackey results from the crazier combinations of heroes and monster. I am particularly looking forward to fielding the trolls!

Having a friendly horn blower will be can make a serious improvement in the number of reinforcements over the course of a battle when fielded alongside the Goblin Scribe! This idea came from another member of this site!

I have just had a Goblin Town army laid low by a group of Thorin's Company dwarves, Gandalf and an Eagle. My opponent chose to save Biffur's fate point for his last wound, so that he his "Battle Damaged" rule could kick in earlier rather than later.

The goblin king, when used correctly is dirty. I used a basic goblin town list against a rivendell knight force and he took elrond down to 1 wound no fate before the game ended. Being able to send on reinforcements with the scribe behind his cavalry is also a nice trick.

I've also found allying in Bombur with a galadhrim stormcaller gives access to unlimited natures wrath

Actually I had some success with him whereby I manage to climb a a an Osgiliath wall section and charge Gandalf, and us Grinnah's swap with me to get the Gobling king up there, who managed yo strip Gandalf of two wound and all his fate. The only thing was, that he failed his break test and couldn't finish the job. He will however be back!

A well used "Swap with Me" can really confound your opponents strategy, and you can use it several times in one turn, particularly in my case where breaking into a fortification held by dwarves was a difficult nut to crack!
