Well, I have a lot of ideas, but I want some help. First off, I'd be playing with evil. Strong, shock troops to damage lines powerfully, like Uruk hai, Morannon Orcs, etc. as the main part of my force with maybe a wraith or just combat leaders like Shagrat etc. I just played against them, and my tactic, which Id generally use all the time, is separate them from their main contingents, and kill everything around them while distracting them long enough to break them before they do real damage. I threw about 6 uruk hai or 8 at Thranduil and his warband and this worked perfectly in my last battle, but I still want to know a better way to do it. Same with Legolas. I just let him shoot at me and kill all the regular soldiers or sometimes send like half a warband to scare him into moving a bit being distracted. What is your advice? |

Enraged Spider queen them with Druzag, 1 heroic combat, they're both dead, simple. monsters are your solution here, trolls, dwellers are around the same cost as them, if you use mordor, get a mordor troll chief with an orc taskmaster just for good measure wraiths are a good option here too |

Magic is very good against them. Transfix them and they cannot shoot that turn. To be honest I normally just shoot them to death or have enough warriors that I don't care that they kill a few as I make it to them. |

Wow how do you shoot Legolas or Thranduil to death? I imagine that would take many many turns, since they have Elven Cloaks. This goblin commander is always amazed by stories of shooting actually doing something |

As stated, send monsters against them. Since they have cloaks, magic isn't that good against them, unless you're very close. NEVER send masses of infantry against Thranduil. A single Nature's Wrath and all your guys are on their butts and dead within a turn. |

Yeah my other plans was indeed wraiths. I have Khamul Undying and Shadowlord. I was thinking Shadowlord since they're also very hard to shoot. His troops Imean. By the way does Shadow lords rule negate legolas auto hit? And one other question does natures wrath knock down monsters or trolls? No right I think they resist magic.... |

I don't understand... neither of them are real power houses in combat what the problem here. Get the Shadow lord behind your heavy infantry and let them shoot to their heart content. No his power does not stop the auto hit but it limits how many arrows Legolas can shoot and be effective with. Natures wrath can be countered by a hero with some will and a good might pool, since he can only use it once burn everything you've got to stop it. If they try to evade you all the better because their shooting will suffer. Get a task master to heroic march so you can close the distance for close combat and keep your might about. That's about it. Oh, No trolls and the like do not resist magic. Look, if you have a strong close combat army, particularly black guard Uruk-hai, don't mince words or try to be fancy about it. Just get in there and MURDER them. |

Natures Wrath does knock down Monsters. You really need a lot of cheap heroes so you can resist it. |

Yeah Im not actually worried I just want other ideas. I took care of them with Isengard quite easily. Legolas sat there shooting at my crossbowmen and some random uruks near his warband. Furthermore Thranduil has to natures wrath very few people and they didnt kill many. My plan is to March the Shadowlord on horseback close to legolas with a warband with Morannons or maybe two warbands from another close one. Then cut him. |

The shadow lord doesn't negate legolas' auto hit. |

A good player shouldn't let you get near his Legolas. Killing him is tough and in my opinion requires sub-par play from your opponent. In my last 11 tournament games in the Great British Hobbit League I've not had to use a single Fate point from Legolas (yes, I like to keep track of these things). Thranduil is easier to take down in combat because he's going to be around your troops to cast Nature's Wrath. A few transfixes from a cheap wraith is enough to bring him down, just make sure you cast within 6"/have a clear line of site. |

Good work. And yeah, Thranduil is always in harms way. With Thranduil, let me ask, can you resist Natures wrath with a heros will in the vicinity? Anyway, today, I killed Thranduil. He let me get too much space and with Mordor I had too many troops with heroic moves and such. I charged with Shagrat war leader and gloriously smote him in one round. Those knock downs from him are brutal. Aura of Dismay was down after that, and finally I was able to keep charging. Last week I want to say Legolas just shot me to the end and I left him and his warband to chill on my right flank and they couldnt make it into combat till it was too late. Today, we just literally had fun and played till the match was absolutely obvious. I ended up having Shagrat with 1 wound left, Sharku full health, and a dozen or so morannons hunt down and trap and murder Legolas, his Mirkwood Ranger captain, and the last elves. I lost my damn Shadowlord to Legolas' expert shot though with a stupid noob move by round four. |

Yes heroes can resist Thranduil's spells but they count as being cast on a 6 and therefore you must roll a 6 to successfully resist it. |
