Son of Éomund - WIP - Rohan/Gondor/Elves/Evil (7/29/14)

So after my long hiatus from the hobby I have started to put together a list of what I have completed and what I still would like to add to my collection. Currently my Rohan force has a small Gondor contingent to support with a few scattered Elves thrown in for good measure. I plan on making these 3 my main good armies and to start an either an Easterling or Isengard force soon.

This WIP should show my progress on these such armies. Besides painting and collecting I plan on trying my hand on sculpting figures from scratch. My first few attempts have been slow (mainly due to lack of time with my work schedule).

I have identified and planned out some units and figures I would like to sculpt and have drawn out some detailed sketches to follow during construction. Here is the list.

Rohan
Eomer (on Foot, new pose)
Theodred (on Foot / Mounted)
Sons of Eorl

Elves
Galadriel
Celeborn
Rumil

I will hopefully post some pictures in the next few days to show what I have completed/painted as well as my current progress on my first sculpting project for LotR (which happens to be Galadriel).

Quick update:

I have been busy with buying a new house and moving so hobby time has been put on hold for a week or two.

Update as follows:

1) All of my Rohan has been painted! This is the first time I have had an army completely painted without anything 'currently' on my backlog. Now if I snag another set of Riders to convert to Sons of Eorl, then this will change. :oops:

2) I have finished up some converted Osgiliath Veterans with some simple conversions.

3) My first attempt at sculpting Galadriel was a semi success. My initial proportions were a tad bit large.... Galadriel looked like she had put on a little weight, not very elvish. Despite the proportion issue, I have restarted with the same design in mind.

4) I have started an Easterling Force & Isengard Force. Trying to think of some conversion ideas for captains & banners out of the plastics to avoid Finecast/metal.

5) I have been busy magnetizing my miniatures for storage/transport with great success!

Here is a test of my Easterling scheme. Comments/criticism appreciated.

Here is my new Amdur and Khamul as well for the S&C challenge. I might touch them up a bit more before painting them.

As for the painting scheme, the green and gold works I think, but it's not really my personal taste.

Maybe I'm just too used to the red and gold. The painting itself is very neat though, and if you're glad with it, obviously go for it! The base looks very fitting too, but the way.
Excellent sculpts though! The poses are great, and the putty work also looks very good. Looking forward to see more! :yay:

The colour scheme looks great to me. Any army looking like this will be a great sight.
The sculpting - are they made from scratch ?

yes seems the easterlings that are not painted are sculpts.... impressive :)

Now that work has slowed down I have been able to get through some more painting. I managed to pick up my Easterlings over the weekend and here were the results...

I made some progress on my casts for my Son's of Eorl but they are in fairly rough shape. Need one more piece (Easterling Kataphracts) to finish the puzzle. More soon...

That would be my Amdur that I submitted eons ago for a S&C challenge. I did some reworks/fixing but overall he turned out better than expected.

All the easterlings look great in that scheme. The amdur sculpt is awesome, great work on that.

I agree with the others, that Amdur sculpt is top notch! Will you paint your Khamul sculpt soon as well?
