I would recommend you not to start new projects while others are still running! Haha! I know where that leads to! Ton of half-finished stuff! ;)

Looking forward to it though, especially since it's one of my favourite boxes aswell! Good luck on them, aswell as your unfinished tales! ;)

I really like the beard, i couldn't make my gandalf have such a good natural beard like that!

However, if you look at the highlights, the paint is coming off. For the remainder minis, you would beneifit from washing the minis a few time before hand, and perhaps a matte coat varnish at the end to 'protect' your marvellous fellowship.

Gandalf is looking great so far! Really has the gritty look that I'd associate him with in the depths of Khazad-Dum :)

The beard is brilliant! :yay:

However, you should fix the white dot on his nose, it looks kinda strange.

The beard is simply stunning. 8)

I agree however, that the face looks slightly magled, and should be fixed. Once you've done that, it'll be great.

Try to work some black lining into the face to start creating sharper features like the eyes. No offence but yours blend in too much. Get the eyes done first is my tip, then basecoat the skin leaving a fine line between eye and skin. Do the same at the hairline.
Good luck and like you say - water down those paints - you can't go wrong if you water them down too much, you just apply another coat - however a thick coat could ruin the effect.

thanks . . . im not sure the paint is coming off as to it just being messy and looking all blotchy and weird.
the beard is very simple . . . its just a dark grey (i went for one part black one part codex grey) then just add about 1 and a half brushes of white and drybrush it all over, and the third you dont drybrush it all . . . just the to p of the head and the middle of the beard and a final highlight right on the very middle of the beard and the top with 2 more paint brushes of white added.

just if any one wants to paint it like it (doubt they would but why not)
thanks again for all the tips although i am stuck as to how i can tidy up the face without ruining it???

Another project! :o

Well, just follow the advice that's already been given and he should turn out pretty well.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of them!

Nice looking Gandalf, only thing is that I would fix up the face with a mix of Dwarf Flesh and Bestial Brown in the recesses and some Elf Flesh for the top most highlights. 8)

sorry for the double post but i have just finished his robes
im aiming for a score of 5 on CMON (although i have no idea how to put up pictures on there)
it was very hard to make him look like he was in the dark but to also keep him from looking plain and flat so it was a big challenge . . . now i only have to do the bag the belt and the thing the sword goes in:

C&C welcome as i really need some advice on how to make it better but i dont want it to look to bright
thanks in advance

Lovely job! I honestly have nothing bad to say...
Although maybe you should paint the gem on top of the staff... make it stand out more from the mini

I really like how you painted the cloak! 8)

Is it possible for you to make the pictures a little lighter? it can be hard to see sometimes.
