I DO like a nicely painted group of Uruk Hai. Very nice!
I agree about the elf; his face is super - really well painted and full of expression and character.
Great stuff!

It's been about 2 weeks that I didn't upload anything, so I'll throw some pics of various small projects, mostly single minis.

But first, a size comparison.

My converted Mordor Uruk-hai banner bearer.

2 of the Morannon orc commanders. (the old captains blister)

Recently bought Rohirrim Commanders in finecast.
These ones were a trouble while assembly. The banner pole and the hornblower's spear were replaced,so was the banner bearer's sword with a spare metal from a RRG.
The huntsman's right eye was cast badly, so an eyepatch is in order while painting it.
So far, only most of the basecoating is done, but I hope I'll finish them soon.

Lovely work, especially the green glazes on the gold. I note the freehand which I would like to see more of.

I suppose you mean on Glorfindel's Armor . It's a rather complicated series of glazes, not only green, but it's not gold, but NMM, again a mix of many colours.
Many thanks for being a regular visitor of my thread and for giving "actual" comments with advice and criticism.

You are most welcome. In my view that's what the site is Bout, giving proper feedback as without it how can anybody look to improve ?
I've looked through again and there is some excellent stuff here. The freehand on Glorfindels robe and the freehand banner and shield emblems, wonderful.
When you add your dark washes I would do it after the freehand on the shields to create a true dirty look, if anything that lovely blue Minas morgul is slightly too clean.

I like the Mordor Banner, The cloak colors are great. I have to agree on the blue, it is pretty nice for an Orc, even a captain. Nmm is done well, though I have zero experience other than a spear tip, but having seen many examples, I would say yours feels natural and realistic.

Hey ya all!
Back from rejuvenating holidays in the Greek islands and I was delighted to see many great things from fellow hobbyists getting done.
You gave me inspiration to get better and better.

Time to give you some of my latest wips' photos.
They aren't of the best quality, since they're not done yet., I'll re-shoot them properly along with some more -soon to be finished- models.

Firstly, the almost finished Rohirrim casualties marker from the old WitchKing on fell beast kit.

Image

Image

The also, almost finished, Rohirrim command group.
The thing is, I haven't deciced whether the hornblower should keep also the banner. That would convert the banner bearer to a captain with a shield.
What's your opinion?
It's over the top, but I liked the idea. Anyway...

Image

Image

Image

A redundant Helm's Deep Aragorn.
What a beautiful model, that one...
It was lying around and I tried to speed paint him. Almost in 2,5 hours it was finished. Not sure if I keep him, though.

Image

Image

Image

...and while I was finishing the Rohirrim commanders, an idea popped up.
Somewhere, there were some metal ones from Gondor. They were quickly sprayed with chainmail primer and were done. :D :D
I particularly like the captain's cloak's colour. I was experimenting with some newly aqcuired GW colours and decided to keep it.

Thanks for viewing.
As always, I welcome criticism above all.

Very good! I did the same thing with the Rohirrim Casualties as well. They look great.

Love the green hue to the captains cloak, black is also better highlighted with a colour (instead of grey) as it just seems to pop more.

Dear friend I hope you had a good time on your holidays and came back renewed and in a great mood! :)

For Rohirrims: That banner is awsome, the wash standed perfectly there and the tones are fantastic!

For Aragorn: I see some nice highlights in the cloths, don't abandon him I suppose if you continue to work him there will be a way better result.

For Gondorians: Yeah exactly, the captan's robe. Excellent executed! You made wet blending with hours or what hahaha?

Thanks, but what about the hornblower? Should he get the banner also?

I got bored with Aragorn, won't touch him further, maybe I'll retry only the gauntlets. It's better looking in real life, maybe the flash was too much for the mini.

Thanks, but no wet palette for me there. These were done almost mechanically. just to reduce the volume of the oversized backlog. Didn't try to surpass myself and wanted to spend as less time as possible on these models.

It is not bad, I like it. I am making some small flags in some of the army's models to give a theme to the army, it is actually realistic because real armies had those. I am making em from the metal sheet we discussed before.

I have some problems of that kind with my highlighting. I am not using much wash but after I apply it the tone is much darker than the base layer. So, in order to get some smooth highlighting (with thin paint, many layers etc) I must not paint it with the base colour again and should use the base colour mixed with black, but this makes it too much complicated and difficult with disastrous consequences :( . I don't know what's going wrong with my washes :P

I don't mean wet palette (I can't paint without it though :P), "wet blending" is mixing the colours that are very wet (or with mediums that delay drying) on the model while you paint it. Ofc you know it, but everyone names the technics as they like so we all confuse what we say when we are refering to them. This is probably the technic what you used (or many many layers), in an excellent way. :)

The green on the rohan cloth is great, I would love to get mine to look that rich, someday.
Gondor guys look great as they are.
Aragorn looks good, I can see where you may have issue with the gantlet details, but you are looking at a blown up version of the model, reduce the pic size to normal or stand back from your screen and you won't notice that. I think the browns came out very good.

And now for something completely different
(quoting my favourite squad, MP :D )

I was sort of sad, letting these two go.
I'm proud of how they turned out, both paintjob and base on both these models.
Maybe, some of you've seen them elsewhere, but it's time I showed them here too.

P.S. The bases were designed and built from scratch by my friend and co-member of this community, Rififivos.

Awesome and detailed painting for those dirty beasts. Armour and nails are carefully painted, this makes trolls looking unique as I see. And the riffi-bases are excellent!
You troll us with these trolls haha XD

Well, some of you may find them a bit to bright or colourful, or both for dirty, cruel orcs.
