The small horse thing I noticed also. Am sure on mine I used theodens horse but I can't seem to find the model anywhere to show you. If I find it ill stuck a pic up. It looks miles better than the plastic ones.

Quick snap of my riders post wash. Next step, highlights! But want to finish ranger highlights first.

Poor picture but had to take them off the dining room table today and pop them in the cellar as we had visitors.

Your approach is sound, Thermo, to make the highlight blend in to the background colour, I would add a few drops of water to the paint till it's milky! Then gradually drag the brush across the designated area :) takes a few times to get used to but once you've mastered it you'll never highlight differently haha! Just make sure the paint on your brush is very well diluted and if a droplet forms, quickly brush the paint off your brush and use the dry tip to 'suck up' the stray paint drop :)

Good luck!

Hey Matt! Tried this attempt of the watered down highlight and layering... is it literally only drops of water you need? Think I may have used too much and therefore, the green and white has practically separated on the highlight! Boooo!

Not even one drop. One drop in a slightly dry paintpot is enough to fully restore it. TINY amounts of water to thin it down - easy to add more water.

Rohirrim have finally got most of their highlights, just need to do their cloaks, faces and leather.

Also started finishing my mounted Eomer. This is him pre-highlights.

Also started basing my final ranger warband last night, painted mounted strider cloak and my mounted RRG cloaks.

Making progress!

Thanks Ste!

Looking forward to seeing your Eomer... forcing me to keep the standard high!

I was going to use a spare plastic one but if you've got a fancy one like on yours, then I'm keen!

PS posted the package yesterday!

You've done a great job picking out the detail on this intricate sculpt. You are definitely doing it justice.

Thanks Gandalf! Painting him is like a reward for all these warriors I've been slogging through.

Appreciate the feedback :)

Thanks Crucifer! Where are you based? Have some spare for trade if you want them?

Haha I can see how it's very very easy to get into that position, with backlogs to paint. I've been very close to some "other army" purchases of late and have to keep reminding myself I have two awesome armies that I'm extremely happy with that need finishing!

Have you got a trade thread my Swedish friend?

If not, fire me a pm and we'll try and organise something :)

Been trying to finish off Eomer and get stuck into finishing the riders of rohan.

He needed some highlights...

Image

Not quite finished in the above pic... but moved onto attempting a horse for the first time ever! This is Eomer on his horse, minus it's highlights and final touches...

Image

Image

Have to highlight the greens and browns on all these bad boys before attempting their horses... fun fun fun!

Image

Wish me luck!

Absolutely fantastic work! I love how you did the horses. I am getting ready to start work on my first set of horses, unfortunately the knights of minas tirith were glued to them (i bought them on ebay). Any tips on painting a horse is MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!

Look forward to seeing more of your work soon!!

Eomer after adding Knight of the Pelannor shield (courtesy of Ste) painting it and finishing the horse highlights. Only the base to go!
