Update 18th May

My latest project is a Posessed Theoden sculpted by ukfreddybear. I am hoping to have this done in time for the National Painting Competition (for those who don't know, no I do not mean Golden Demon).

Here he is:

I still need to add the Grima and Gandalf.

And here's another project that I am working on. Here is my converted Buhrdur Hill Troll Chieftain:

Thanks,

Jake

Looks very good so far!

I'm getting one of those Mad Theodens as well , I can't wait to paint him up. Your Plinth makes it look very good , where do you get those sort of things ? DIY stores ?

Nice conversion on Burdhur ! could you explain on how you did it? looks a nice result , and more fitting for a savage troll than the poetic-esque looking over the horizon he now has

Only thing I noticed is that the sword is the wrong way round..

Thats the way the sword is when it comes, I actually think its supposed to be different to the Isengard style one.

The way I created the conversion, well I just moved the arms around a little untill I found a pose I like the sculpted in the gaps with some putty (for this particular pose the gaps were quite large  ).

The plinth was made by LOTRCrown and given to me by tidoco (there you go, mentioned both of you this time  ). I too look forward to painting it :) .

Thanks for your comments :)

Technically Gríma should be cowering on the floor with Gimli standing atop him, but we can overlook that! Excellent looking stuff, it will look exceptional when painted.

Are the figures all attached (I'd assume not, due to the difficulty of painting that way).

Meh, too much work that way CC  . Not attached at the moment for the reasons you say, just pinned and Theoden is blutacked :)

I hope they'll let you enter that posessed Theoden, since it's a non-GW model, although Gandalf is so maybe if you say it's a conversion they let you enter it.

Grat work so far. Few comments:

On Radagast it looks like you pretty moch inked his cloak. Spray a thin coat of satin varnish over him, it should help clearing the shiney effect.

And the black cloak you just painted is I think your best work so far. Maybe it could go with a thin black wash/glaze (not ink!) to blend the highlights more together.

Looking foreward to see more of your models!

Thanks guys :)

Already asked If I am allowed to enter the Theoden diorama into the National Painting Comp and the manager is letting me although I can't enter it in GD.

The Radagast cloak wasn't actually inked but I sprayed the Satin Varnish a little too close up and got the horrible shiny look :( .

Thanks :)

Cool. I am surprised to hear that the Theoden was allowed, but then again GW Southampton were fighting over who was going to paint up the Watcher head I donated them a while back so perhaps each store makes its own decisions.

It's funny because I also considered this scene for a potential diorama. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Haha, I bet they were  . Again thanks for the trade Dave, it's a great mini and I am looking forward to getting Gandalf and Grima out of the way so that I can paint him :D

Update ------->

Started on Gandalfs Robes. It's my first time painting white robes and I am quite happy with them so far. Still have a couple of highlights left to do :)

Comments and Criticism welcome.

Thanks,

Jake

Aside from the diorama a little, I have completed my Gulahvar and I am very happy with how he turned out, took a little longer using highlights. The picture make the chest look drybrushed butit's not just so you know;)
