As always, more info on the blog - including the colours, paints and techniques that I use - (http://simbattleboard.blogspot.com/) than here, but been a bit crook the last few days. Still managed to churn through the metallics...

Looking great! I shall look at the blog in a few minutes. I realised something that I forgot to mention: you can use different inks/washes to add extra colours. So higihlights of fortress grey and kommando khaki and washes of badab black and gryphonne sepia will make it 5 colours per basecoat ;)

lol, Hashut's Blessing, at this rate I'll have to buy more dwarves just to try out all the different options!!

Finished the browns last night:

Onto the final stretch of the base coats, arrows and pants. Then it'll be off to the highlighting/washing/detailing. Oh, and the shields!

Looking great :D They are already in a playable state, which is good news ;) As to needing more to try out the options, you will always need more, lol :D Besides, that's still only almost 10 of each base colour at the moment ;P

And... the first lot of washes.

Some attempts at closer shots on the blog, but my ancient camera just isn't really up to the task. =(

Still plenty to do on them, but they actually look so much better already! Amazing what finishing the black parts and washing can do.

I read your blog, and just wanted to note that Khazad Guard do not get throwing axes.

Looking excellent. Even a stage a day means that you will have 48 done in less than a fortnight ;)

ShadowMaster26: I presumed he'd meant Iron Guard ;)

I also realised that you could get even more beard colours by combining the washes and highlights ;) Basecoat plus one ink = 2 colours, basecoat plus two inks = 4 colours, basecoat plus two inks and a highlight = 8 colours, basecoat plus two inks plus two highlights = 16 colours of beard :O

That would be just 3 of each type then ;) It gets even crazier when you add another highlight colour or ink wash colour to the mix ;) On top of that, you have the other colours of basecoats, so 4 basecoats * 16 colours per basecoat = 64 beard options fromt wo inks and 2 highlights, from 4 basecoats O.o

Yeah, good pickup on the throwing axes. I didn't have my rulebook so used the pdf from the Games Workshop site. It had Khazad Guard as 4/4+ and I knew they didn't have bows, so assumed throwing axes.
I guess they just cut and pasted or something wrong!
Thanks for the pick-up!

First lot of highlights done.

I've mentioned it on the blog, but for those of you just passing by the red beards are nowhere near that colour in real life! /blamecamera

I really like how you have gone with purple fabric, it looks really good and is quite different.

Highlights are looking awesome :D Just remember to take close-ups of the red beards when your brother comes with his camera for the battle report ;)

Also, just re-read the blog and thought it best to point out that Khazad Guard have D7, whereas Dwarf Warriors have D6 and with shields have D6(8), unless you're talking about SBG.

They look quite nice. The only things I don't like too much are the camo cloaks on the rangers and the Warhammer bits you've used for some of your conversions. The Warhammer pieces just look a little out of place and don't quite feel right. The painting looks good, so I look forward to seeing another update from you to see how they're progressing. 8)

Okay, just about there now, have pretty much done as much as I can be bothered doing at the moment!

Washed their hair, dotted their eyes, neatened up the edges...

Image

Just have to do the shields now =)
And the metal guys, of course.
(blog has more pics as always)

Got out of bed to do the shields today. I like some of them, some not so much. Still feels good to have them done, and looks great to have them all lined up on the board, ready for action!
