Very nice conversions, both on the Corsair and the stormcaller

* resurrection!*

Been playing lots of games for all systems, the easterlings took a back seat in favour of Corsairs of Umbar.
I also gained a few more armies..
Grey Company, a full Knights of Minas Tirith list, and an army of Giant Spider army :)

Last week I got ALL my corsairs painted :) 5 days to get 50 models done, and I've been slowly doing the few extra characters I had.

Then one evening I decided it was about time to get my Dragon painted, I sculpted in the gaps over a few evenings inbetween painting corsairs, then painted it up in one evening :D The main reason being that I wanted a cave drake, so if I got my dragon done I was allowed to buy myself a cave drake :)

Then I decided I needed something to fight the dragon and cave drake.. so some dwarves have been added to the ever expanding collection!

Cheers :)
And yeah, the arbalesters/crossbow dudes were all converted from the corsair archers. I used the plastic Dark Elf crossbows from the warrior box set. The monkey is from the Empire handgunners I think. Captain with the shield is the Bo'sun with a beastman shield and a sword from somewhere, and the crossbow captain has a plastic hook and sculpted eyepatch :)

Yikes! That's lots of painting for one week. Good job on getting them all finished so quickly, and they don't look half bad either. I also really like the monkey, and the various scars and tattoos on the corsairs.
I really like the colouring of the dragoin, I like it being a sandy orange/brown/red with some good (subtle) variation throughout. I much prefer it to the bright red of GW's. One critique would be that the basing on the dragon seems a bit plain to me, maybe even a little bit more colour variation would improve it? It also looks like you got some red drybrushed onto the base by the claws by accident?

Anyways, great figs, and great conversions. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. 8) :yay:

Cheers :)

I plan to add some dwarf/goblin weapons at some point, and maybe some green somewhere to represent moss or something. And yeah some devlan mud or red has got onto the base, will fix that, harder to see in real life, especially with my vision.

Anywhooo, jumping between projects as usual, I decided to get out the Spiders today :) I've used the fantasy spider rider spiders as I got them free ;) So i spent the evening chopping up and bending legs, next I will greenstuff the hole and work on the basing!

Yus, but the ones from the old starter set from 7th edition, battle for skull pass. I simply chopped and bent the legs to be more life like.

Thanks! I might look into getting some to use as giant spiders in WoTR

Managed to get 6 spiders painted up and almost based, the spider queen painted, and 6 more spiders on the way. Might spend tomorrow finishing as many as I can before I head home for xmas.

Today my Dwarves came from a trade, 20 khazad guard, Balin and 2 captains. 2 of the KG's axes were broken, so 18. I also bought a box of dwarf warriors.
So the might dwarf army currently stands at:
Gimli
Kings Champion and his banner buds.
Balin
Captain with throwing weapons (leading the rangers)
24 rangers ( 8x bows, 8x 2hw and tw, 8x tw)
24 warriors ( 8 bows, 8 shields, 8 2hw)
18 khazads
= 1031 pts so far :)

And I want to add at least 6 iron guard, another captain with shield and a banner. And probably the other characters at some point.

Not got much done recently due to Uni and other stuff, mainly 40k!

Played a couple of games with the SPiders tonight, which you can read about in the Battle reports forum.

My Birthday is on Sunday, so my parents sent me some virtual vouchers for GW, so I got a box of Rohan Warriors and Grimbold, and plan to get myself a box of Uruk-hai scouts to go with a Lurtz I found in my collection :) Another 2 armies.. both these are 250pts:

250 Pts - Theoden's Host Roster

Hero (1#, 50 pts)
. . 1 Grimbold of Grimslade, 50 pts (Grimbold's Helmingas; Greataxe (2-handed); Armour)

Warrior (8#, 64 pts)
. . 8 Helmingas, 64 pts (Grimbold's Helmingas; Hand Weapon; Armour; Shield)

Warrior (8#, 80 pts)
. . 8 Helmingas, 80 pts (Grimbold's Helmingas; Hand Weapon; Throwing Weapons; Armour; Shield)

Warrior (8#, 56 pts)
. . 8 Warrior of Rohan, 56 pts (Hand Weapon; Bow; Armour)

And:

250 Pts - Isengard Raiders Roster

Hero (1#, 60 pts)
. . 1 Lurtz, 60 pts (Hand Weapon; Orc Bow; Armour; Shield)

Uruk-hai Horde (8#, 64 pts)
. . 8 Uruk-hai Scout, 64 pts (Hand Weapon; Armour)

Uruk-hai Horde (8#, 72 pts)
. . 8 Uruk-hai Scout, 72 pts (Hand Weapon; Armour; Shield)

Uruk-hai Horde (6#, 54 pts)
. . 6 Uruk-hai Scout, 54 pts (Hand Weapon; Orc Bow; Armour)

Do you have a particular technique for painting metal? I really like how you've painted the shields for the corsairs and since I'll be starting a Gondor army soon and have difficulty achieving a smooth finish without the glitter effect I'm very much interested in how you painted them.
