Thank you garmenhord and Mapper!

I have some more evil models to show right now:
Ugluk and a banner bearer in addition to the Lurtz I already showed here some time ago:
Image
Image
(It seems I still need to clean up Lurtz's base...)

And the Necromancer of Dol Guldur - this model is somehow still the first to come to my mind when I think about the Necromancer, I didn't quite like the interpretation of the Hobbit movies. Too much of the literal flaming eye in my opinion, and of course rather difficult to turn into a miniature I guess.

I hope you like them!

Great job on those uruks!
I would add a greenish glow on the cloak of the Necromancer.
He misses something evil now.

Thank you guys! The Necromancer does look a little more greenish irl, but I purposefully made him not quite as "leaf-green" as the GW version.

Now here are some heroes of Gondor of the Third Age: Prince Imrahil and King Elessar:

I hope you like them, I always thought that the Imrahil miniature looked a little weird, he seems to be missing his left foot. But it's actually there, hidden in the back under his cloak, you just can't see it in the pictures :-D

Nicely painted, really like what you did on the horses blanket/cloak.

A couple of months later and I have managed to paint a couple more miniatures! Progress is slow because I can only find time to paint occasionally. But here we go:

Some Gondor guys:
Image

And some miscellaneous good guys, Murin (or is it Drar?) obviously still needs his base done:
Image
Image

I managed to get Gildor off eBay some time ago, he has always been one of my favorite miniatures somehow, it's been great to finally paint him.
And here some non-LotR stuff: Rincewind and Death from the Discworld novels:

I hope you like them!

Games Workshop still sells them.

Very nice work. I always had trouble with the eyes myself but these look much more lively with them. The Discworld minis are cool tool. I have not read any of the books in a while but I remember them fondly. Keep at it!

Lovely bit of painting all around. Gildor came out great. I agree, he is just a fantastic sculpt.

Me too :?

Anyways, I managed to take a few more pictures, some of those miniatures I might have posted already, but these are some small group shots:

A couple of Rohirrim + Merry:
Image
Image

And even some bad guys. These are older but I don't think I had made pictures of them yet:

Image
Image

I don't think this is really visible in the pictures, but all the wood here has a slight greenish tint, I tried going for a bamboo look. No idea wether this really makes any sense, but I liked it and so I went with it...

Unfortunately the pictures look quite glossy again, but I have neither a good camera nor good lighting conditions.
Still, I hope you like them!

And once again it has been a long time since my last post... I haven't painted a lot of minis in the past months, but got into the mood recently to do some conversions I had planned for a long time.

First a Balrog. I had bought a Gulavhar when it was released some years back, although I didn't really care for him rules- or (GW)-lore-wise. But I thought he could make a decent Balrog, the movie one is a little bit too big and bulky for my taste. Ideally I maybe would have liked to remove the wings (which are, of course, only metaphorical :-D ), but my sculpting skills are limited and there is no denying that they look cool. I had to redo the left arm and the horns which I somehow lost however, and I added some flames:

And two more conversions: A mounted Erkenbrand (still WIP), basically I just threw together lots of left-overs I had: Theodens horse, a warg rider's torso, an Uruk's spear, an Easterling's right arm and a troll's shield as a barricade.
And then there is a conversion of Aragorn I had seen some time ago, so I tried to copy it as best I could. Below is also a comparison picture with the original. I really like how dynamic the pose looks.

I hope you like them!

Nice conversion on Aragorn! Don't see too many of Aragorn with a bow.

Aragorn with a bow is pretty clever, even if it isn't an original idea. Guluvhar is a nice conversion as well. Erkenbrand is still one of my favorite sculpts and I hate that he was given a plastic horse. Mine has a metal one, but putting him on Theoden's steed looks great too!

I have gotten around to painting a few old metal Easterlings:
Image
Image

To accompany them, there is a small wingless dragon. I have no idea where that one is from, but it is made from some softer plastic, so I assume it is just some toy of sorts that I picked up some time ago. Originally he had small wings as well, but I removed them.

Size comparison - especially given it's smaller size, I think this dragon is also somewhat defensible lore-wise. I can imagine this as some offspring of one of the original, smaller and wingless dragons from the first age, that escaped the War of Wrath into the east and went by largely unnoticed, maybe getting some local following among Easterlings.
