I first have to say that I am very impressed on the quantity and especially the quality of all the new works in progress I am seeing, very nice!

I have been keeping to my new year hobby resolution so far this year, not starting something until I have completed a half done job. I finally managed to base my century worth of warlord factory's romans, and on the lotr side finished basing my rohan settlement. Which led me to ordering some Laketown Militia to convert to Rohan Militia.

Watchtower - just based on a woodland scenics rock mold
Image

Hut
Image

Stable - used some eye pins to hold the gate to get it to open and close
Image

Cider House - favorite place for many, hard cider in the barrel and a bench to sit on...
Image

Captain's house - this one gave me problems on how I wanted to do it until I thought of the porch. Wire railings with liquid green stuff painted on for texture, Beads on top of the posts.
Image

With the former Captain - this figure led me to converting the Laketown Militia to Rohan Militia, just a simple switch of weapon and shield.
Image

And the Rohan Militia - tacked together for now, gave them Rohan weapons and shields, two handed axe from warlord factory vikings. Thought about doing Rohan helmets, robes but wanted to keep it simple and more of the villagers just grabbing their weapons to defend their homes.

Great Idea. I always thought it was a missed opportunity not to have made rohan militia minis. Old men, stable boys, women & children etc.

Gene, I agree that there was a missed opportunity for Rohan. With the Burning of the Westfold and handing out weapons at Helm's Deep, I would have liked some Rohan militia or civilians.

I have bought Gripping Beast figures and while they work well by themselves, their size doesn't match GW.

Finished painting my converted Laketown to Rohan Militia, just need to spray them with dullcote to protect them. Now I have to decide if I need to buy more to complete a warband or just go with what I got.

Brilliant, the village is amazing! I really like all the detail and especially the roofs, every single one of them is very unique! 8)
The idea of converting laketown milita to rohan milita is very good too, they fit very well. Did you drybrush the models? I think layering would have looked neater here, can't really see it on the pictures.

Yep, dry brushed, don't have the layering skill down. I just aim for tabletop quality as that is all my eyes and hands are barely able to achieve. :)

The terrain is breathtaking. I love the paint jobs. Weathered to perfection! Is the thatch laid on strand by strand?

They look awesome.

Im even more shocked than impressed that someone would take expensive laketown models and make them rohan militia. You have some fortitude my friend, and good work.

You saying I have more dollars than sense? :-D trust me, I hesitated when I cut arms and hands off. Part of the reason why I didn't attempt to swap heads. Also why I haven't attempted to reshape the fur caps on the remaining archers to skull caps like the rest of them.

Thought it wouldn't last. My new years hobby resolution was to do one thing thru completion before doing something else, also known as the bright shiny object syndrome.

I was doing well until I went to a hobby train convention show last weekend. Looking at all the terrain and booths selling tree making sets, etc. I had to build something. My go to is Hirst Arts and building something with arches and statues.

Just a detour on my painting of Uruk Hai scouts.
