I find myself with a day of nothing to do and a ton of figures lying about. Sooooo....I'm going to do an old-fashion Iron Man Paintathon (12-16hrs). Hopefully this will make a serious dent in my Dwarven LoTR collection as well as get me ready for a 1000pt WoTR game(s). My list: Balin Shield 4c +Cpt +Banner +Horn Blower Shield 3c +Shld Bearer Archer 3c Kazad Guard 3c I.G. 2c Vault Wardens 2c Total Figures: 149 Movement Trays: 17 Grand Total: 166 3c of shield and 2c of V.Wardens are not primed and a few of the models are in various stages of painting, but none are finished. If I get around to them I have left over: 1c of shields, 4c +6 of Archers, 6c of 2hd'ers, 4c Ranger w/Bow, 3c Ranger w/2hd, and 3c Ranger w/T.Axes (all in boxes and on sprues). Hero's that I am hoping to "take-breaks" on are: Aragorn, Gimili, Legolas, The Three Hunters, Halbarad, Armoured Pippin, Eowyn, 7 Axemen of Lossarnach, Dwarven Captain, Dwarven Banner Bearer, 2 Dwarven Kings and a ballista and 4 crew members. I was going to post all the beginning pictures of this project, but found I was taking to much time away from starting. So, I have decided to wait till after I am done to post the beginning shots, (hopefully) middle shots, and the end results. If this works, hopefully I will follow it up with another Iron Man of Army of the Dead, Easterlings, and/or Moria. So without further delay, I will start in t-minus 30minutes (Starting at noon EST - 11/04/11) - |

Calling it. I completed the I.G., K.G., 2c. of Shields and that was rushing at the tail-end of my allotted time. Was going strong in the beginning, then the phone began to ring...and the day flew by...ah well. There is always next friday I'll post pics later on, once my eyesight returns to normal |

Attachment: 1st Alliance Elves.JPG Attachment: 1st Alliance Elves (2).JPG Attachment: 1st Alliance Elves (6).JPG I left a larger part of the hilt from the sword than I would normally have, just to show that you could leave it there to represent the handle for the shield. |

Attachment: 1st Alliance Elves (3).JPG Attachment: 1st Alliance Elves (5).JPG Attachment: 2hd Elf.JPG You can see, its pretty simple conversion. For the spear shaft I used a paperclip, and attached the elven blade to it. The 1st Alliance Elves spear-wielders have a elven blade on the end of their spears, like a naginata. I have some that are spear/bow-elfs, but their pics are in a detached hard-drive with my bf. For some I simply drilled a hole between their cloak/back and took a small rod and shaped the top/upper portion of the bow and placed it in the hole. Gives the illusion the rest of the bow is under their cloaks. For the quiver I made a "tube" out of greenstuff and stuck converted bobby pins (from a fabric store) in it, also I simply stuck some in the "ground" around the elf...even some have no quiver/arrows - just a bow to represent they are Spear-Bow-Elves. - |
