A friend told me I should consider starting a WIP thread rather than linking my progress to the blog. So here it is, although I will still be updating the blog with content as well. Just finished my second Argonath statue. Eventually I will build a base with water, etc. But for now, here they are. I included a mini of Lurtz for scale, these things are pretty big. I think this camera is better than what I was using, but now I need better lighting. |

UKFreddyBear did these conversions for me. The screen shot was the inspiration for them. I think he did a good job of capturing it. |

I love your basing on your mini's! and loving the 2 Argonath statues. Where did you buy them from? or did you make them yourself? |

The Argonath came from a company in Poland: Monolith-Icon. It escapes me who it was, but someone on the OR community posted about them a few months back, citing that after a hiatus, they were available again. Takes a long time for MI to get them shipped, but it is well worth the wait. |

That means a lot coming from you, I am still in awe of that banner you did for the painting competition. I am just finishing up a Barrow Wight that has been sitting on the painting table for months. I'll throw a picture up to this thread when its finished. After that I don't know what I am going to do next. I was considering painting Radagast on the sled because I have a vision in my mind of what I want to do with the base. So its probably either that or UKFBs Willow Ent. |

Hard choice, must admit I have put the Radagast to the back of the cupboard. Look forward to seeing them. |

Fantastic conversions and very inspirational! Maybe the axe shaft is a bit thick, but thats it already. Think I might want to try this as well! |

Thanks for all the comments guys! madfrog2000 wrote: Woah those are expensive haha nearly $300 each my money. New Zealand Yeah brother. Its nuts. It cost me as much to have then shipped as the statues themselves! Below is the Barrow Wight I just finished up. And I decided to go with Radagast's Sled next. Man, that has been a pain to put together. I am real excited about the base work, so I have to make sure I don't rush the paint job! haha. Last is a WIP shot of the layout. |

I love the painting on that chain-mail helmeted RoR The painting on the statues of Argonath is extremely realistic Well Done |

How come you didn't just buy the statues that came from the collectors fellowship of the ring box? Yeah, it's a good thing the sled has a rickety appearance to it. I am going to have to do a little greenstuff fixing to it still. I really had to do some severe bending to it to get the front together. Are you talking about the extended edition DVDs, with the bookend Argonath? I have those. But they are really small, and not the proper scale for this. Of course, I think to be the correct scale, the Argonath should be about 6 feet (~2meters). But these are the biggest I have ever seen, and look really good with the minis. I just bought a 20 gallon fish tank that I have upside down overtop of them to keep the dust off. They are to big for my display case! hahaha. |
