Once again getting back into painting after another hiatus, started painting Gandalfs, here's my latest effort! I'll try to update as I paint. |

Nice job, the grey might need a little more highlighting but I'm loving the beard |

Cheers! I've started highlighting now; still can't quite get the blend I want on the robes - think I need to go even thinner with my paint. |

Thinning the paints is definitely the way to go but he's looking real good now. |

Gandalf looks nice. I presume Legolas is just base coated so far. I agree with Dorthonion, thinning your paints is the way forward and will achieve some wonderful results. You seem to have a fairly good technique so far but with some work I think you hit a high standard. |

Thank you for the kind words Yeha, currently working on Legolas - done a few highlights so far. I think my technique finally kinda clicked whilst painting his tunic; hoping it's still there when I pick up my brush later! |

Looking good mate. Thinning your paints more is definitely the way to go to get smoother blends, just make sure your thinnned paint doesn't pool on the end of your brush because then it'll just wash into the recesses and not stay where you want the highlight to go (that used to happen to me a lot!). Just take your time to get the look you want and you'll get it! Good start though. |

Pooling was my biggest enemy! I'll keep it in mind. Going to checkout your YouTube too DomyHill |

This is my first post as Barnsley Burglar (instead of richardjkeys). Been a while since I've posted any WiPs - Just finished my Radagast, really enjoyed painting it - it's a lovely model. There's a bit of a write-up over on a blog I've started (needs a better theme I know!): http://barnsleyburglar.wordpress.com/20 ... the-brown/ And some WiP piccys on my twitter (it's easier to post to from my phone as I'm working): http://twitter.com/barnsleyburglar |

Looks great. To avoid pooling just wipe your brush on some kitchen roll before applying. |

I really like the Gandalf - classic colour scheme (the famous blue pointy hat). |

Cheers Harfoot, definitely my best I think. Painting the Witch King next. Seems to be one of those that's easy to make look good and hard to make look awesome, so far! |

That's great painting. It's not an easy mini to paint either. Impressive |

Post subject: | Re: Barnsley Burglar's WiP - Witch-king - Completed |
Many thanks once again I've completed my Witch-king - two photos as the white backdrop doesn't show highlights too well, I'm moving house soon and intend to setup a better rig! Painting Eowyn, then Merry, from the Fall of the Witch-king boxed set now. |
