Hi all, I am new to the forum and wanted to post some work i have been doing on my SBG miniatures. I have been collecting for TOO many years, but have recently been arming my Dwarves for war! I've seen a few folk converting the (not so new) Grimhammers to warriors of Erebor and thought i'd have a go. With the new rules allowing dwarf with spears, i just had to make some. I sketch out the colour scheme first to match the dwarves i have already painted. Bear in mind my skills are amateur at best and my paint style is "dirty" hahah. Hope you like them. So here is the tester... The photos aren't the best quality, but you get an idea. Fluff-wise:I wanted them to be slightly less armoured than the grimhammers, hence the leather armour. Cos im a geek, i thought that they would be a vanguard type force and watch the roadways in and out of dwarf kingdoms, spending days out in the wilds as sentinels. My wife came up with the name "Waywardens" to echo the Vaultwardens that protect the inner grotto-ways of dwarf kingdoms. They would move at speed (for dwarves) and ambush with Spear, Shield and Throwing Axes. Feedback and crit welcome. I'll paint the others and get photos up soon. |

I much prefer the colour scheme. The Grimhammers look so bland, but you needed them less bland. Well executed |

I like that. These new dwarves are so much better proportioned and tough looking than many other fantasy dwarves. |

Very, very cool! Is that a Wargames Factory Viking spear he's got there? |

Lord Hurin wrote: Very, very cool! Is that a Wargames Factory Viking spear he's got there? Yes, a quick e-buy. Very cheap indeed and good scale for lotr dwarves. Thanks for all the great feedback. Final highlights done, just need to finish the bases and they are good to go! |
