Post subject: | Eomer, Marshall of the Riddermark conversion |
I have always wanted an Eomer Marshall of the Riddermark model, but the actual model is impossibly hard for me to find. So I've decided to convert my own using the regular (and much more common!) Eomer mounted model. The Marshall of the Riddermark model and his horse are unique. Eomer is looking back, sword raised high and situated behind him, unhelmeted, and is wearing a cape. The regular Eomer mounted model is looking down, sword raised in front of him, helmeted, with no cape. My first step was to cut the model in half and turn him so he was facing the same direction as the original. Also I had to cut off the head and turn it, and also tip it up a bit. I had intended on making an unhelmeted version but I am not good enough to sculpt faces yet. I also had to sculpt a cloak. After the cloak was done, I fixed the plume on his helmet. Also, part of the problem when I cut off his head was that I ruined his chin, so I had to resculpt that as well. Then the horse had to be redone. I used Theoden's horse because it was armored similarly to the Marshall of the Riddermark model. I cut off the head and two of his legs. The legs on the original model look like they are trying to stop quickly. I used his legs, just cut them and positioned them correctly, and added a plastic leg because it was already pretty straight. I bent the other ones into position. I cut the neck off at a different angle and then glued it back on and resculpted the mane. *updated the images, Eomer is finally finished!* I still have to add a shield to the side of the horse, and then I'm finished! |

Very nice. In eomer's case I've always been fond of the rider model but hated both horses |

Love this sort of thing - thanks for posting it. How did you do the line round the edge of the cloak? |

Very nice conversion. Really like this. Not seen anyone attempt this conversion before. Always loved the original mini. Look forward to seeing it painted up! |

I second what Dr. Grant said. This is a fantastic conversion, and definitely feels like the official Marshal model. |

Very nice conversion... So have you thought abut what Rohan horse conversion you want to do next? A banner perhaps? |

I was never too keen on the idea of just redoing existing models but you have nailed it here! I really like the conversion, the cloak is amazing! Looks like I have to rethink my way of doing them, yours look so much better... |

Great conversion & sculpting! I would just reposition the reins, as they don't seem natural. I know I am a pedant |

I do plan on redoing the reigns now that I've looked at it a few times. Eomer's hand is no longer even close to them, so I will probably file them down and sculpt new ones. That'll be a pain |
