Welcome all!

In this thread I will start documenting my hobby projects in a blog-like manner.

To get the ball rolling..

For a very long time I have aspired to build an army of warg riders. I was inspired by a similar army on The Last Alliance forums some years ago, but I plan to take mine to the next level by collecting/converting every single lotr model that has the option for a warg in its profile.

I plan to base them in an old desert battleground theme, with skulls, bones, old weapons etc.

Here is my current collection of warg riders:

Image

Here are the first 2 models I have completed (you may have seen them in the march 2015 hobby challenge thread!)

* Converted shaman using a BGIME conversion kit head, shaman hand, and warg rider base.

* Converted captain using some easterling gear, a urukhai helmet and a Wild Warg Chieftan

Image

Stay tuned...

Nice WiP, I would almost say that you like warg riders. Looking forward to see some more painted!

Nice unique theme army you are building. Like the bedrolls/packs you have added on the back of some of the figures. Looking forward to seeing more conversions and what you do to the bases.

I am a huge fan of converting and have quite a few Warg Riders in my back log myself. I will enjoy seeing what else you come up with. I still have Uruk Scout Captains on Wargs which I enjoyed making and wished Uruks had received warg options (though who would use orcs on wargs after that right?). Anyway, good luck with the project.

Here is a small update - Gothmog. I took the skeleton torso from a Pirates of the Caribbean toy I found lying around, the rest of it will probably end up on bases too.

edit: just noticed from the pics that the sand on the base has peeled a bit, I'll have to fix that up

I am planning on painting a Gondor army up in the next few weeks. If all goes to plan there should be plenty of pictures!

I painted these models to form a 800pt Minas Tirith army which I took to a couple of recent tournaments in Australia. I won the painting prize at one of them, so I'm pretty happy.

The converted Beregond model has a citadel guard body, Theoden's arm, and a head of unknown origin.

Coming up 2 years since my last post. Time flies! Here is 300pts of Isengard I painted last year for a tournament. Banner is converted from a siege ballista crewman, and the crossbow spears are detachable. I'm currently working on more of the Isengard army (with a troll almost ready). Other projects include LoTR dwarves, and various terrain pieces.

Some great collection here!! The gondor army with alternative color is really nice, red mantle looking really good.

Thumbs up also for isengard!

Thanks for the kind words!

Just LOTRified an old Citadel ruined chaos tower, it will now form part of a Southern Gondor Board (a long-ruined and abandoned Gondorian city)

Very cool, you should maybe take some pictures with mini's on it. Would be interesting to see how they scale to it.

Great work on the ruined tower, fits in nicely with the LOTR setting.
