Last year, after a hiatus of about 15-16 years, I dragged my LotR figures out of my storage unit to renovate and rebase them for a new rule set. Tiring of the limited scope of the SBG I picked up a lot of cheap figures (many second hand "job lot" junk purchases) with the intention of playing mass Lord of the Rings battles.
Plenty of enthusiasm sadly eliminated by the junk that War of the Ring turned out to be. Why they couldn't get a decent rule writer to review that book before it went live amazes me :-X

I began by sorting out from my boxes figures that could be saved with a new coat of paint and simple repairs. Here a few of the original plastic Uruks.

These (and many others) were treated to a couple days bathing in Biostrip20.

Then washed and dried ready for working on.

These will be multibased in 6s or 8s depending on troop type on 65x50mm MDF bases just as soon as the end of year post delays allow.

The post services from UK to EU are dreadful at the moment, so the MDF bases I ordered are long overdue.
Progress should be pretty quick when they do arrive. I have a lot of Rohan and Isengard figures already painted just needing to be rebased. Adding the Gondorians and Mordor/Angmar units will require new painting so things will slow down then.......so many Orcs :o

I am working on the named characters/heroes at the moment, only the canon ones will be appearing, none of the GW/Jackson invented. Those will become generic "Captain" or in some cases absorbed into the rank & file units. My previously painted Isildur and Elendil (in my gallery) are already redone as Black Numenoreans.

Looking forward to seeing more on this, Rob. Your other hobby projects on the LAF and suchlike are excellent.
