Anyone seen this game based on George RR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones books? It's by Cool Mini or Not. Not sure how good the game is, but the miniatures are very high quality, IMO.

The game is fairly early in its development, it only has four armies out so far (Starks, Lannisters, Night Watch, and Free Folk). Might be a good time to get into it.

Wow, bet that was a chunk of change. I haven't gotten any of them yet, but it seems inevitable. I'm still trying to figure out how deeply I want to dive into it.

You say you're not a gamer, does that mean you don't play but collect the minis? That's pretty much what I do with LOTR, since no one plays around here.

The only thing that kind of makes me leery of the gameplay (from what I've seen of it) is the way it involves card drawing. Then there are also characters working on the side which affects the game politically (which makes sense, considering the source material). It just seems like there is a lot going on besides just the minis (which are awesome IMO). The thing I like about LOTR is it only involves the minis, much more straightforward and less clutter.

The other thing that concerns me is when they bring the Targaryens in. They are either going to be very overpowered with the dragons (unless they are facing the White Walkers). Or they're going to underpower the dragons in order to keep them balanced (and that would be very much against the theme of the book - because the Targaryans ARE very overpowered because of the dragons). Should be interesting to see how they handle it, I'm not sure how they can go about it.

Theres a facebook group for the game you should look at. The gameplay aspect doesn't matter at all to me as i will never game. The ASOIAF minis are awesome to paint tho.

Lol, you're really set against gaming, aren't you? I'd actually like to game more than I've been able to. Oh well.

I don't have Facebook, probably never will. I miss out on seeing some things not having it, that's for sure.

I was looking at these SOIAF miniatures, they're really not that expensive considering. You can get a unit for about $25. I bet when the dragons come out, they won't cost $500

Yeh lol i'm no gamer thats for sure its just not something that has ever interested me.
Good for you not having facebook, I kind of need it for work or i'd be the same.
The price and the quality of the ASOIAF stuff are both excellent.

I like the Pyromancers minis. They're very plain and don't look difficult or anyting, but they have an unusual look for a unit that you would plop down on a gaming table.

Obviously I'm more interested in gaming than you, but I've never been a big gamer either. In fact, sometimes I buy games not to play, but just because I think they look cool. I guess that makes me something of a pack rat.

Wow, Vietnam war stuff, interesting. I like to paint, but I'm a notoriously slow painter.
I'm just finishing up Goldberry. Got any ideas for her? I wanted to put those "silver beads of dew" on her green dress somehow, but it's easier said than done.

Got the starter set for SOIAF. I like that the minis are all in one piece, saves a little bit on the prep time. Although I'm not 100% sure I'm even going to paint these. That would be best, but I have a huge LOTR backlog.
