DeAgostini did a BGiME style magazine for The Hobbit miniatures? It was a great way to collect a broad range of miniatures at a good price.

The only problem would be Finecast instead of metal miniatures. Imagine trying to get figures without moulding faults!

I thought about that as well, and I think it would be fantastic! I own the complete BGiME collection, and it's very good. It was a very cheap way to get a huge collection of figures, but don't forget the magazines themselves were great as well. You got the rules without having to buy the rulebook loose, and they were packed with great scenarios, and helpful terrain- and painting articles.

Some of the rules contained withing were not accurate though. Besides this, i agree 100%. It was a great magazine, it's a shame I stopped buying it at issue 59.

True, the rules were a little hit and miss, but the GW rule set was in a constant state of flux before the 'One Ring' book.

The thing I enjoyed most about the series, aside from getting the miniatures at less than GW retail, were the painting and scenery projects. The rules became non-essential when I bought the GW rules later. The card stock proxy figures were pretty handy too!

The series is by far the best value for money part works publication I have ever seen. I'm glad I managed to get it all.

I have been searching and can see no rumours or advance notifications. For LotR, BGIME only came along after the same GW minis had been on sale for months if not longer, so if similar logic prevailed, the earliest we would see any such a publication would be the autumn of 2013, and that is speculating that there will even be one.

Yes, but if there would be new magazines, I suppose the price will be higher than the old BGiME prices, since GW has upped their prices a few times since that time.

So true about pricing. IF it were to happen, I would imagine the monthly price would jump by at least half again of what BGiME used to cost.

Dorthonion, my whole point in posting was to speculate, hence the title. I've seen or heard nothing myself. I was just thinking how nice it was to get a new mini or sprue every month, and that got me to wondering how successful BGiME had been for GW, and whether they might entertain a partworks for The Hobbit.

Either way, I'm dreading the thought of trying to collect character miniatures in FineCast. I have had absolutely no luck with that rubbish, and can't wait for it to die a quick death and be replaced by something (hopefully) less like the foam on my latte! :-X

I myself have been hoping BGIME will be returning for the Hobbit for a loong time. Keeps the hobby affordable and gives you something to look forward too every 2 weeks.;)

Also, Athelas, you've posted an average of 1.75 posts every year since you joined. Must be a recordbreaker. :P

LOL, Amarthadan. I have a cunning plan you see. What I lack in quantity, I more than make for in quality!

Truth be told, I've been on a bit of a hobby hiatus, as we all do from time to time. If it weren't for real life, I would get much more painting and gaming done!
