One of the oldest wargaming clubs in Australia will be celebrating its 40th anniversary later this year. On October 27th and 28th, Group North Historical Wargaming Society will hold it's birthday bash at their club rooms in A. E. Martin Hall, Building 36, Woomera Road, Edinburgh. South Australia. Free entry, with door prizes, painting competitions, local and interstate traders, and bring and buy stall, historical military vehicles and all manner of games on display and for you to join in. It's always a good day out, but this year is going to be something extra special with so much going on that the place will be packed. There will even be an artillery display (and I believe they will be firing the guns). I will be there, running a terrain making demonstration on the Saturday and running a participation game on the Sunday. Some of my friends there will be running an awesome LOTR game too. Did I mention it's Free Entry? |

Thanks Madtankdog, I forgot to add the link to your website. For everyone who doesn't know, Madtankdog has probably the largest collection of Easterlings in the southern hemisphere! Certainly the most massive collection I've ever seen - all metal and all exquisitely painted too! |

Ooh, very nice. I especially like that black gate terrain piece, I wish I had room for something like that. It's also cool to see five mumaks all lined up, they're all slightly different, but good, in their own way. Thanks for the pictures. |

Seeing Greg's Black Gate model in the flesh was an awesome experience for me - the detail on it just has to be seen to believed, it's a brilliant piece. I understand that he'll be bringing his Helm's Deep to this year's event, is that right Heinz? |

Nothing like a bit of threadomancy; but I've been offline for 1, 1/2 weeks so here goes . Thanks for the kind words Alan re my Black Gate, that's high praise coming from the man that brought us the brilliant model of Weathertop. Every time I see it I just stop and look, it's probaly the single best scenery model I have seen 'in the flesh'. Orthanc is going to be a right royal pain as it is of Numenorian build and therefore the modelling will have to be much more precise. With the Gate I had a reasonable amount off 'tolerance' or leeway seeing as it was Mordor built and not everything had to be straight and true. I'm starting it this week so we'll see what happens :-0 cheers Greg |

Thanks Heinz, I am really looking forward to it - should be a blast! Literally. I'll be bringing the two terrain projects I'm currently working on along as part of the terrain making display (a modular Venice table and a Dwarven city - LOTR naturally), plus a variety of smaller things to demonstrate different techniques. And of course a few of my finished models - Weathertop, the Edoras gatehouse, and more. |
