First thing is to work out what you want to make and work backwards from there. However, I would look at a sheet of 6mm MDF or the like. Glue some polystyrene to it that you can cut up to resemble some rock faces etc. It will all need a coat of some regular household paint to seal it. Then start adding the detail - look at ways to do grass at different levels to add realism. I've stuck a couple of links to give you an idea http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/gbu0 ... flora.html http://onyxworkshop.wordpress.com/about/helms-deep/ http://www.necrotales.com/necroTutorials/ Remember to plan what you want before you start - you may add ideas as you go along but you need a basis. Good luck |

Thanks for the links Gandlaf. And for the board im thinking im gonna make my board a half n half kinda thing with one half of the board being a good side where the grass is green and there nice trees and the other an evil side where theres no grass n the grounds burned up and the tress are all dead and chopped down and in the middle i want a river going across separating the 2 sides with a bridge and on one end of the river im hoping to create small mountain cliffs with a waterfall going down into the river.. thats what im hoping to make lol |

Sounds like a good plain. So start with one section at a time and move to the next. Before long it will be done. I will gladly make suggestions but it will be easier one me to ask one question at a time. Like how do I make a river? |

Quote: what do you mean? There are a lot of steps involved in building a table. If I spent a hour explaining how to build table legs only to discover you don't have a saw then I wasted an hour and you did not get any useful information. I do not know how old you are and I do not know how many tools your father has. I do not know what kind of budget you have. It will be easier on me for you to ask one question at a time. |

A couple of practical high-level things to consider: Make sure that whatever you build, you will have room to store it. This may sound silly, but I could never store my board of dreams in my apartment, so I will not build it. Some base materials may warp, for example even my previous 10 mm thick 4' long MDF board has warped slightly during the years. Consider carefully do you want to always have a river and a bridge in the middle of you battle field. It may turn almost all your battles into a battle for the bridge and maybe make them too similar. You need to consider what to build permanently on the board and what to place on it as separate terrain pieces. Separate pieces give you more freedom, built-in terrain looks better. -- Pasi |
