I edited my original post. After watching some video reviews of different brands of tuft and reading peoples disparaging and critical comments about every single brand!!! I would like to ask your opinion. Which company's tuft are better if we consider: price, and quality.

Thanks!

I've only used The Army Painter's Swamp Tufts, which I used on my Black Templars which I wanted to finish to a high standard. They are very cheap (mine cost £4, I think), and you get absolutely loads, I used 1 on each base for about 40 Space Marines, and I still have half the packet left.
My one recommendation is that you shouldn't rely on the sticky bottoms the tufts have, although they will stick fine on a bare base, if you are sticking them onto sand or another material add a dollop of superglue to the bottom of them. I think only 2 or 3 have fallen off after extensive gaming use, and I have simply applied some more glue and stuck them back on - no harm done. Overall I would highly recommend them, they shoudl have at least one variant to suit you as they have quite a bit of variety, they also look incredibly realistic for very little effort. :)

I think I have Silflor and Noch - no complaints about either of them. I haven't reied any Army Painter stuf yet but I hear a lot of good things about it as a brand.

A bit offtopic but... I just remembered - sometimes tufts are slang for hair transplants or wigs. This has just reminded me of a holiday in London many years ago when we kept running into this gut with the worst wig I have ever seen in real life. Every time we encountered him, the wig was sitting in a different position or orientation. And worst of all - it looked like it was made out of one of those rust coloured mats people have near exterior door so anyone entering the house can clean their shoes. Aaaagh! Flashbacks!

The positive thing with GW's tufts is that you get more per price paid. The only concern I have about Army Painter is that it may end up being more expensive. I will only be using them for terrain pieces complementary to Scorched Grass and probably I'll be needing more packs if I choose to buy Army Painter.

Mininatur/Silflor are the best! Most definetly! Plus you get wayyyyyy more in one package than with armypainter/GW!

Check out this link for the wonderful German company Fredericus Rex. I get lots of compliments on my bases and this is what use. You can see examples of my bases scattered all over the WIP pages (Gulp!!).

I buy them from the company (Miniature Warehouse) listed above. They are in NY, so if you are in Europe you will have to find a distributor there.

The best for quality, quantity and price. Take a look.

Hi,

Try some from this guy : http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Tajima1-Miniatures Superb quality and seem reasonably priced. You will get over 200 for £6 in the small size (lots more variants available) - nice for a little detail here and there peeking around small rock clumps and the like (unless you prefer your models buried in shrubbery that is!).....
