Hey All,

So my Fiance has got me back into Miniatures, and we decided to focus on LoTR.

I'll be doing most of the figures, and she'll be doing most of the scenery.

We're not making these to play, it's just for decorative and recreational purposes, so we don't have to worry about size or placement.

We're going to order some of these: http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/scenic_mats.htm

To use as a base for hobbiton.

What do you guys recommend to build stuff out of? Foam? Polystyrene? Papier Mache?

Personally for bulidings I like foam-board, and I use paper mâché strips and a special plaster to make hills and such. But compared to some of these guys my terrain is pretty tame

Extruded Polystyrene is a must as its easy to work with and yet fairly duarable. It's waht I use all the time and made my Hobbit Houses and Barrows (ARTICLE) out of. Also Foamcore is good for buildings such as how I made my Bree Houses ( ARTICLE ). Hopefully soon I will wreite up how I made my Green Dragon Inn.
