Hello! So, in my spare time (when I'm not playing with toy soldiers), I design woodcut toys and decorations on my computer, which I cut out of 3mm MDF using a laser. The items are assembled using the slots and tabs, requiring minimal glue. I hope someday to sell my creations. This afternoon, I made a modular castle. It is made of four tower segments and four wall segments: a gate, a staircase, a wall and a culvert. The blue and red troops represent units on 25mm bases. The large red one is on a 40mm base. The entire castle is 300mm by 340mm at the base. 12" by 13.5". The walls are 98mm tall, the towers are 143mm. 4" and 5.5" It's designed to remain intact without gluing the large pieces together, allowing for very compact storage. (The sheets lie on top of one another) This also means that the staircase can be assembled in either direction and the towers can join walls at either 90, 180 or 270 degrees. The same pieces above in a different configuration: The ladders are to scale for the ones in the Uruk-hai Siege Troops box. Walls can also connect straight onto other wall segments with some angular flexibility. About 20 degrees convex and 90+ degrees concave. A few additional wall segments and you can make: If a demolition charge goes off at the culvert, remove the entire section of wall. ------------------ I have a question: The tops of the towers are 94mm squared. (about 3.5") Is this enough space to hold a Battlecry Trebuchet + 3 crew? What about a Mordor Catapult + 3 crew? ------------------ The individual segments: The pieces: Do you like it? What are some things I could improve on? Would you buy one if I had them made? How much would you pay? Have any suggestions for me? Requests? Queries? Want more pictures? Let me have it. |

If I didn't...hhmm, it would depend upon the price. 4. about a £10 (but I'm really stingy) |

i would I think pay more for it around 20 but I wouldnt buy it, money problems . I think you can only see how it has turned out when you have it cut out. one other thing is that the castle has no texture, but that can be made on. overall nice project. martijn |

For a castle that big? £25 seems reasonable |

It would be nice to see the constructed castle. |

If all parts fit well, I'd say €30- €35 seems fair. I wouldn't buy it myself though, at least not for now. Being a student, buying models eats much of my tight budget :'( |

I decided that the ease of manufacture and the convenience of modular walls and towers outweighed the aesthetics. Of course, like you said, one could always texture them. SidTheSloth wrote: 1. yes. I had a plastic castle once that looks a lot like what you are planning to make. Pity I had to throw it away. I like the concept, especially if it is possible to remove pieces of the castle and to make it a longer wall. Perhaps a broken/ruined wall piece for wall breaches. I would buy it if the price wasn't that high, again money issues. I couldn't pay more then €15-€20 for it. |

£10? Seriously guys? Talk about wanting something for nothing lol. It looks like it could be a decent piece. Obviously a final decision can't be made until its actually finished; the final product and the concept designs can often be vastly different. However, on paper it does look rather promising. I wouldn't buy one myself (got enough castles at the moment - Helms Deep, Minas Tirith, and one not unlike your own that was passed down to me by my grandad ) but, depending on the quality, I'd expect it to be around £25. |

I wouldn't buy one from you, I would just steal your design and schematics and make my own. That's a compliment by the way to how great your work is, so if I make one that is similar to the dimensions as yours, remember imitation is the best form of flattery. |

On the paper it looks great! I look forward to see a real prototype.! |

I would want one. I would pay about $35 for it. |

I'd want to see a complete, assembled and if possible painted example before I bought one, but it sounds like a great idea. |
