So I have decided to purchase the realm of Game Battleboard. However, I am unsure of how to paint it up. Also, I want to build some terrain to place on it.

1) What will I need in order to paint the battleboard (going for a plains/forest type look, will use greenstuff to fill the pits with the skulls)
2) Want to make terrain that looks like an 'abandoned alps settlement'. This would include derelict buildings and fences(really like the GW ones --> http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Walls-Fences), along with trees, rocky outcrops, etc. What would you recommend?
