Hi, I was wondering if anyone has used the 'craftfoam' range from the panel systems firm to make a set of modular boards?

They advertise a 12 pack of 600mm square (25mm thickness) boards for £46 & it seems like a good deal. Just curious if anyone has used this product or could give some insight into how suitable it is for modelling? If it is as good as it seems, the potential would be limitless :gandalf:

You're better off using using wood for boards in my opinion. Still cheap and you can get it cut for you into small tiles.

Foam is more likely to get damaged especially if being moved around a lot for a modular setup.

I've used foam, wood plastic, and neoprene for game boards/mats. They all have pros and cons. Foam is light weight and a common wargamer choice. However, it can be brittle and depending on what you're trying to do, may require special tools.

However, foam is a nostalgic choice as many wargamers have used it to create scatter terrain and warboards. I personally really enjoy seeing a good piece of foam scatter terrain or game board.
