Hey all,

I've been getting the feeling that it's been noticeably quieter here since the hack. Is that just me or did we lose a few active users during the overhaul? I lost touch for a long time, drifted into other things for a while. But since i've been back it seems less active - or is it just my imagination?

It doesn't really matter, its more my curiosity :).

Eorling.

I thought so, what a shame. Still, I expect that it will build back up again and it will be stronger for it.

Well it is expected to have a few less active members after the hack. It is always nicer to have a nice done up flashy site rather than just a plain forum. Dagorlad has been busy and did find some time to put a few things back up as you see. I remember in a post he did say he would have more time soon, which would allow him more time to work on the site. Hope things should return to normal soon enough, nice to have you around Eorling. I'm very sorry to hear you decided to move away from the mode shipmaking and I hear your more into making moulds or casting. Any chance of those buildings you had mentioned once? ehe. I'm also hoping that we will be back up in time for the hobbit, and then a new boost of people may appear.

You could say "It's the deep breath before the plunge"

Hey Drum good to see you again too :). Yeh the ships were never really my thing, though I still design masters for other ship modelling companies, it's really good money and it's all digital. I do more moulding and casting now yes, while my business partner and I develop our minitures range - we want to release alot of them simultaneously. I'm about to ove house to where he lives and I will pester him to finish those buildings. They are looking really nice though, I know you're going to like them.

I really hope we are up to 100% again by the time the Hobbit comes out, it'll be good to have a big injection of new members.

Eorling.

The layout of the site always had a huge influence on the sphere in our community.
It will be back some day when Alan finds the time for it, but at the moment he has a lot on his mind.

Other then the hacking-attempts, we have a daily amount of rediculous nicknames registering, who are probably waiting a few days to spam...
However, I'm giving them a warm and welcome wellness treatment between the hammer and the anvil.... Hope that will stop soon aswell.

But the key to all is just plain patience! You will be rewarded big time! :D

I've also noticed some older members becoming active again or new ones joining in, which is a good sign aswell.
And since GW has a new licence for LOTR and The Hobbit, I think there's more in our future then you think! :)

Hey, are you calling me an 'older' member!
Of all the cheek!
Actually the big 4O is fast approaching.

I loved the layout of the old site, with all the graphics and gizmos. The chatbox was also a fun way to keep in touch in an informal (sometimes silly) way.

I've been too busy with real life for much in the way of this hobby for a long while (although I made some casts last night), but I pop in for a visit from time to time. :)

I'm sure things will be up and running better than ever by the time that the Hobbit arrives and it brings in all the new hobbyists. It's still the place to be for LOTR minis :).

I don't know If I am considered as an "older member" but in my case, as well as in cases of many, real life kicked in ;) Between studies, clients from law clinic, painting, dancing and some other stuff, there's as little time as can be spared for update on my threads ;)

But I think that once site is up and running couple of newsletters and some useful PR should do the trick ;) (to be honest that's my area of interes due to my Masters topic ;)) )

I took a slump when I became disillusioned with GW's constant price increases and lack of SBG support. Then I took a look at my massive SBG library and ridiculous backlog of lotr minis and decided I already have more than enough to continue enjoying this game. Only yesterday did I talk to Ebob about having a game of SBG for old times sake.

I think that SBG will continue to have a big fan and playerbase even if they decide to can it altogether. There is a big demand for skirmish level games, but it wouldn't be profittable enough for a large manufacturer - hence the big WOTR push.

But I do alot of casting for other smaller companies and so keep an ear to the ground, there are a few manufacturers who are starting to listen to the demand for a mainstream skirmish game. SBG has been very influential in that respect. We shall see what happens...

I look forward to seeing some of those minatures, I remember you mentioned them a while back actually. I'm also eager to see these buildings, for there doesn't really seem to be much lotr terrain around apart from what fans have made.

I'm still around and I visit pretty much every day. But I think real life finally caught me and I'm always either too busy, too tired or both. Haven't touched a brush since last August.

Not going anywhere though... I'm here to stay and I just hope I can get some free time soon or I'll be mentally insane. Well, more than what I already am anyway. :P

I just had to fight with one of those login images where it is next to impossible to distinguish whether you are looking at a g, an 8 or a 9... and I have no idea how anyone with red/green colour-blindness would cope.

I have very little spare time for anything at present.

I know what you mean! Those things are impossible! I always give up and ask them to send me a new password.

Ugh tell me about it those things are the worst! Botnets and spammers are totally ruining the internet, it's getting worse all the time.
