So there's a Dol Amroth player at our local store and his force is unbeatable so far.I'm wondering how to defeat him with Isengard. He takes Knights with Prince Imrahil and foot knights too.He also takes rangers and a few bolt throwers.

Just good tactics and those damn knights with Imrahil they're a tough nut to crack.Along with all the shooting it's nasty.Any advice on beating him?

What makes them good? cavalry with lances, deadly on the charge...

solution presents itself...

what you will need is around 4 or 5 uruk captains for the heroic moves to cover MOST if not all your minis so you can charge him before he charges you. Without their charge, they die all the same. With the charge and lances, you are gonna be hurt quite alot tbh. rob him of the charge and you will go a long way. Also, worth getting a few berserkers within the ranks...they help...

as for the bolt throwers, neutralise them early on with a handful of crossbow men. hitting on a 4+ and wounding crew on a 5+, you should neutralise it pretty quick.

Corsair, I think he's talking about Dol Amroth in War of the Ring not SBG.

I played some game with the knight of Dol Amroth and they are really good in the War of the Ring game.
What you need is a flying monster that can fly over those mounted models and attack the horses in the rear.
My mounted horses where beaten by a dragon :x
Another thing that works are siege engines and pike or phalanx.

Against Bolt trower: try to stay away first and then move at the double in range and pray for a bad dice roll of the siege engine.
Or again a flying fell beast first with a swoop attack over the siege engine and then attack in the rear. (i lost two trebuchets by that tactic :x )
Or having a catapult or balista, they have more range than the bolt trowers.you can shoot at the bolt trowers but they can shoot back, the knight have to go to your siege engine and you can attack them in the rear or flank maybe.

Hmm Saruman and combinations of free Epic Ruination, Exsiccate, Bolt of Fire from some range, or when you're thinkin about close combat Shatter Shields and Dark Fury. Of course in the second case you'll need something to cover possibility of heroic duel from Imrahil, but Thrydan with his epic strike and heroic duel should work well.
Also handfull would be some Mordor or Isengard Balistas. Longer range then Avangers and better in terms of pure strenght. Also Wild Man of Dunland should work. This guys are really cheap, has Ambush special rule, and nasty S5 while charging, and cost only 15 points per company. Perfect troops to led sudden attack from back on the avangers or this KoDA.
The last and most risky strategy are Sappers with bombs. If they will reach target, it's gonna be blown into piecies. If not... well just hope that your troops will be far, far away.

I thought Pikes would be the simple answer on this one?

I would agree, pikes take away that charge and with that the knights are pretty much worthless vs the pikes.
