There are several good options. Your best bet is to try not to beat their defense, it is usually very high and tough to crack. Go for anything that can cause automatic hits. Winning duels, certain spells, epic shot, etc.

Archery companies with a captain also have a decent chance to take them out, but are best used for only Hard or Very Hard to Kill!

For those rediculously hard to kill things, you want to do 3 things all on the same turn.

1. Bring their Fight to 0. Gandalf can do this easily enough, another option is to have terror and take the fortune inner fire to cause an automatic failure.

2. Delcare a heroic/epic duel. Remember, if it has might, it is a hero. You can duel the balrog and other such things.

3. Declare an epic strike. You will be dueling at +11 vs +0. Worst case scenario is rolling 6 times on the duel table. Very likely to do some serious damage there.

As a note for the second poster, it seems that the general opinion that I've seen from most forums is that the way the timing works Epic Strike doesn't work on duels.

Why wouldn't it? The description says "If he declares an ES before HE fights, his fight is increased to 10." If it said before his formation fights that might be a different story, but since it says He specifically that sounds like he can use it before his duel. In the sequence you declare a Heroic/Epic Duel at the beginning of the fight phase. Then, because of the way Epic Strike is worded, you can declare an ES any time before you actually roll the dice. Once you roll the dice the "fight" has started, and you're just SoL.

Legolas's Crippling shot is nice for stuff like this and the Dwarf ballistas can be nasty.
