After searching everywhere for decent werewolves for my Angmar WotR army, I think I finally found some. Enough that the model is only duplicated once on the formation tray as well.

Westwind Productions has some for their 'secrets of the third reich' line:

And some scale examples from Aegis Neugebauer's modeling site:

Now even though these are packaged and intended for use with 40mm bases, I have just got a hold of these and they fit just fine on 25mm bases.

The only drawback I see is the pants, but some minor greenstuff work can take care of that. That, and the price... which is likely the biggest drawback. But I think they are the best looking generic werewolves at this scale that could be considered compatible for LotR.

I agree that they are a little pricey, and how well they jive with Middle-Earth is questionable. However, they are in scale, and are insantly recognizable for what they are.

If only you could pick up a pack with all four for a discount, they would be a viable option.

I've been eagerly awaiting GW's version of the werewolves and the Black-hearted Trees. I can't wait to see what they come up with.

Yeah, its pretty subjective whether a person feels that they would fit in with Middle earth, especially since werewolves are only mentioned in passing in the books.

As for black hearted trees, there is already a decent, fairly cheep and very available source for that fate:

I use it for the Black hearted tree fate and it fits well. Stands almost 3" high, prepainted which is typical for wizkids stuff. Even though wizkids is no longer in business, there are tons of places online selling these base sets for under $5.

Nice find! 8)

Though there are some really good conversions of this kind:

Bloodletters never cease to amaze me.

Those are indeed cool conversions. Though after its all said and done, they start to cost the same as the models above.

[edit]

I just read through that whole thread (or rather looked at all of the pretty pictures since I do not speak german ) and that was a great diversion for a couple hours...

Yeah, there's some great work in it! Especially the conversions.

I can vouch for the West Wind werewolves. They are excellent sculpts. I saw them at a convention I went to with my good friend 'the dark rider'. He bought the game mainly due to those models and has a set at home. I don't think it would be too tricky to file off the trousers/pants and tidy up with putty.
