I was just wondering, we all have lots of questions and concerns here on this forum about WotR, many are not answered, and others are interpreted.

Has anyone thought to contact Matthew Ward and/or Jeremy Vetock, the authors of the rules?

I don't think they even work for GW anymore. Ward is somewhat of a pariah amongst the 40k crowd, so I doubt he would be too open to talking to anybody.

That's kind of a shame really. I would have liked to hear what he had envisioned the game to be like in its final form.

He's got a blog somewhere now that he's left GW (they are quite prescriptive about what staff can and can't do online), so try contacting him there and put a genuine question forward. Sure he'll appreciate something outside of the 40k hate mail he used to suffer.

At the Ardacon Q&A this year, the question of any attention turning to anything like War of the Ring ever having a chance of happening and the response was fairly positive, due in no small part to America having a big WotR scene.

I would be very surprised at this since the plastics almost doubled in price since WOTR was issued. You now get boxes of 10 or 12 when it used to be 20 or 24.

Having said that, I would welcome a re-release of WOTR. I'm painting up my WOTR Harad army with four mumakil.

Warlord - it came directly from the mouths of the heads of the Middle-Earth team. It might not be War of the Ring as it has been, but they have said they'd like to take a look at a mass-battle system for SBG again (and will do at some point).

Dreadaxe: of course,t ake this with a pinch of salt. They did say they'd like to look at it. They obviously can't give a timeframe or an expectation of comparison to War of the Ring etc, but it does feel promising in its own way :)

I'd really love to get this back up and running. I never had enough miniatures to really do it properly though. I love the concept but the execution needs to be better. I remember some major balancing issues (Nazgul, some other Heroes, Blackshields vs Moria Goblins) that turned me off of building bigger armies.
