Post subject: | [PAINTING] September Painting Challenge: Warbands |
Hello everyone! Welcome to the thread for the September Painting Challenge! Rules 1. A miniature is decided upon before each monthly painting challenge. This month is the fifth 'Special' Painting Challenge where instead of a single miniature being chosen, a theme is chosen. This month will be a 'Warbands' themed challenge as voted for by the community. To enter you must paint a warband, for the purposes of this challenge a warband must consist of:
2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature/s you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature/s 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible. 3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT+1 of October 2nd, 2012. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 10 photos please, this allows you to show your entire warband off from front and back plus several more shots of individual models as you please which is more than enough. 4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. In previous painting challenges, the winner and runner-up recieved prizes in the form of gold coins, however with the websites current situation, gold coins are not available to give as prizes, so no prize is available at the moment. 5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months. Good luck to all! |

Well here is my proof photo...front two orcs are a little blurry, but you can still see their poses. 7 of the original metal orcs, an orc converted from a wildman and a captain converted from a Gothmog. |

Looking forwards to seeing what everyone paints, going to strip the paint off my Troll trio and then see what I want to paint to go with them after that (once I can get access to a camera that is) - Good luck all! @SouthernDunedain: Is that Helm's Deep they're standing on top of? @BOTWT: Nice Wildman/Orc Conversion! |

1 hero and 6 cavalry? I was hoping to paint my Khandish horsemen but I only have 5, so even if I add a hero I'm still 1 short |

@martinus: looks fine. they're on cavalry size bases so im pretty sure its fine heres my entry: 1 galadhrim captain 1 banner 2 elven blades 4 bows 1 spear so a very boring warband from me im afraid (i ran out of heroes) it doesnt have to be bow limit legal does it? it didnt say in the rules good luck to all |

Why would the bowlimit be an issue? I don't think were applying rules for an army on a warband level all of the sudden... |

The only remaining heroes I have are the foot versions of Boromir, Gimli, Merry, and Pippin......would any one of these work with 6 Riders Of Rohan?? Or would I need a mounted hero?? Its not really a big deal to me because if not, I need to repaint my Warriors of Rohan anyway..... |

My two cents is that everyone is way over thinking this. The models are general guidlines. So far everybody's list is worthy of my decision and valid for the comp . . . but I'm not a moderator. |

I don't think abiding the bow limit's necessary, especially as it's quite likely these warbands will be part of a larger force Just my opinion, I don't plan on painting any archers myself |
