Bandobras' Legolas gets mine. Stunned first time I saw that mini. Truly beautiful. My elf escaped the paintbrush this month. I doubt I could compare to a few of these entries though, they're all good. Well done everyone |

DMS for me, although I really love Bandobras Took's Legolas also. His facial expression is great! Shame the photo wasn't a bit clearer, but I know taking miniatures photos is hard. Anyway, well done to tall. Lovely to see Legolas in so many different colour schemes and poses. |

Valpas and Barbars entries caught my eye in the first instance. Having just finished Tauriel I can appreciate the work that has gon into this mini. Barbar - a great job on a very plain sculpt in my opinion, given the model real character. My vote this month has gone with Bandobras, as has been said previously the picture could have been cropped down a little more to allow us to see more of what looks to be a pretty darned good paint job. Fantastic challenge as ever - can't wait to see what you all come up with for the April Open Challenge. |

I had to vote for Bandobras Took also. It is presented how we all see models most of the time, on a table top at a slight distance. And from that perspective you can really see how he has made the details pop. many of the other entries have great details as well. I think DMS did a great job on the plastic sculpt, which I know is not an easy task. Barbar did a great job but I would have liked to see some lighter and less buys pictures to get a feel of the model without the mood of the background. Joshuar_au did a great job and I can tell those skills will continue to progress. Fine examples of Legolas all around. Open entry this month will be crazy awesome to see, I am staying out of it for sanity reasons . |

I voted for Bandoras becouse I feel, he has captured legolas like I have seen him, very realistic ! DMS work is very impressive, especialy the free hand and the armour. I dont know if it is the sculpt or the painting but there is somehting unnnatural? with his face.. + points and tips about the other entry's Joshuar: the face is very well done Aule : I think he could use some darker colours or washes, although the same pose as joshuar, you managed to create a very different facial expression, I like it, he looks like his eye's are set on a target and ready to shoot. Barbar an impressive haldir, for me his hair stands out as been done very well. I would have likes to see more sides to be able to judge him better Valpas just lik Aule I think more dark corours or washes would do her more justice, but i can see that you have added nice details ! If my eyes are correct, I especaly like her arms with the texture like green. Constantine I think the colours you used blend well together, I find it hard to say something about the level of detail becouse the photo is sadly a bit blury... I would appreciate some feedback on my entry (wheter painting or presentation/photos), it is my first and I hope not my last. |

Voted for DMS - having looked at that new Legolas mini in store, the face is very well done despite the terrible sculpt of it. It is so podgy with little to no defintion IMO. Apologies about the pics on mine. If anyone wants any close-ups, I have some in my WIP (link included in my sig.). I'll bear the cropping idea in mind for future challenges. I guess I thought they were close enough as I can zoom in very easily on my mobile which is what I use most of the time for this site... Anyways good entries all round |

Hmm, I think Bandobras looks good but its hard to tell from a postage stamp! It only takes a minute to crop a photo. Aule has done my favorite eyes of all the entries, so well done for that. In the end DMS gets my vote for a very crisp paintjob. IMO it helps if there is no background to distract the eye from the miniature itself. |

@ukfreddybear - see my above post. There are closer pics in my WIP. I do understand that it could be hard to see on a full screen computer but, due to a maximum of 4 pics allowed, I left the close ups for the WIP and thought if people wanted a closer look it's not hard to find, taking a click or two to get to! Perhaps that's my mistake... |

Ah, but all the voting is done based upon the photos displayed above. I just think you missed an opportunity to show off a really nice mini. Which is a shame. |

Jelier wrote: I would appreciate some feedback on my entry (wheter painting or presentation/photos), it is my first and I hope not my last. I think the photo's are ok. I would present the model without any scenery for at least a couple photo's to allow us to see just the colors. The green and brown you used camouflage with the background and thus we miss out, it feels muted due to this. most of your cloth looks good. I think with camouflage when painted looks better when it is sort of modern, because the skill level involved to make clear pattern of at least two colors (like plaid painting too) even if painted poorly, if presented as modern style it adds a skill notch. it is difficult to see your camouflage pattern, so in reality you made perfect camouflage but for mini painting it is hard to see what you did. A good example of what I mean is DMS legolas cloth has a design on the cloth and it is clear to see, if you present your cam colors like that it would step it up. The rest of your entry looks pretty good. The eyes are on, the straps and quiver is tight. Hair looks good. Great Woodelf. |

Another challenge, another difficult choice! Jelier I think your background scenery is befitting, but as Silthious already pointed out it has the disadvantage of drawing attention away from the model; for example I only noticed the camouflage pattern after it was pointed out. The best painted faces are in my opinion the ones done by Aule, Bandoras, Joshuar, and Barbar. DMS the cloth on your entry, and the base are stunning, but the face seems somewhat unnatural. |

Thanks Constantine - yeh the face on this particular sculpt is a strange one for sure. The whole shape of Legolas' head is strange, sort of fat and very circular - hardly any distinguishing features on it at all. I will have another go when i paint my own version some time. Thanks for all the votes guys : ) |
