Post subject: | [S&C] Oct/Nov Challenge "Beasts and Monsters" |
Welcome to the Bi-monthly Sculpting and Converting challenge. This time the subject matter will fall under.... This can be any animal, creature or monster you choose, good or evil. In this challenge you have several options to take part: - Sculpt from scratch (starting with or without armature/metal wire/...) - Convert an existing miniature (to a new or another character or race/region, to change it's situation, rank, pose, wargear, ...) You may sculpt/convert more than one character should you choose to do so but please bear in mind only 4 finished pictures can be submit for the vote. Only one entry per person per challenge. So choose carefully! 2. To enter the Sculpting & Converting Challenge, the miniature you are converting must not be converted nor painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-converted'. Re-converting an already converted miniature is NOT allowed!! When sculpting from scratch, you must picture proof this with your blank armature/metal wire/... as well as a work-in-progress-picture as valid proof. All "proof-pictures" MUST either have the announcement-screen of the running challenge in it's background, or contain a small note with the announced theme and date written on. 3. You may join the Sculpting & Converting Challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of your completed work by midnight GMT of NOVEMBER 30TH 2014 . WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. You are allowed to use any sort of sculpting epoxy, as well as scratch build materials (such as metal wire, plasticard, rivets, chains, ...). You are allowed to use parts from other miniatures (such as weapons, heads, banners, arms, horses, ...). Your final work must stay UNPAINTED and ideally contain 4 pictures; showing FRONT, BACK, LEFT and RIGHT side. Final pictures MUST NOT be submitted using the attachment format. If you want them in the voting poll then please link them across from an image hosting site such as photobucket or imageshack. If you do not know how to do this, PM a moderator. 4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed sculpts/conversions. Votes should be cast not simply on sculpting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of techniques, artist improvement, originality etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to improve their sculpting skills and to encourage creativity onto their shelves. 5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next Sculpting & Converting Challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive challenges. |

Does Beorn as a bear count? It might give me the motivation to crack on with him... |

Didn't get much further than the proof pic - it's tricky working on something when not actually at home, especially if it is as difficult to transport safely as Gûlavhar. A single weekend would be enough to finish the sculpting, but it will be some weeks before the first opportunity for that occurs. |

Looks like your skills are no longer required in the Shadow&Flame business ukfreddybear! I honestly do fear, however, that a genuine entry may still lose to that.. thing, purely due to its creativity. But: you're on! Just because I can't finish Gûlavhar, doesn't mean I can't sculpt.. something. No clue yet what it'll be. EDIT: I'll be attempting to sculpt everybody's favourite hedgehog, Sebastian! |

Excellent.... something stirs in the east! P.S - he's not a "thing" he's a wild warg chieftain called Alan. |

Of course he is. Looking forward to seeing you paint him by the way. Wouldn't surprise me if he still came out pretty good. |

Had I known about this before I may have attempted one of my Dol Guldur Troll conversions, I have all the pieces already, but I probably wouldn't have had chance anyway. Oh well. |

I suppose it could be a prairie dog although it wouldn't be classed as a beast or monster particularly. Best stick with the wild warg idea haha |
