What would you like to do next? I am considering doing away with the themed challenges, and am leaning towards an open category each bi month. This then would not stifle anyone's creativity. You basically work on whatever you want and enter it at the end every two months. What do you think?

Good idea, though perhaps a seperate thread for sculpting and one for converting? It's often hard to judge appropriately, sometime a mammoth effort goes in to an overall sculpt, but the results
are still amateurish, and then again a dj
plenty
conversion can make an extremely interesting model. Just a thought

On the contrary, I think the themed challenges motivate people better and get them thinking on what to do rather than stifling creativity. As long as the theme offers a wide range of possibilities then I think it works better.

I quite like a theme, I think if we cut theme we probably ought to make the challenge only a month long.

Or tie in theme with the painting challenge as well. So if you do a Sculpting theme for example "Kingdoms of men" for Feb and March then the painting challenge for April can be "Kingdoms of Men". Then we can Sculpt and paint after each other.

Problem with that is painting is monthly whereas sculpting is bi monthly. It would get out of sync quickly. I'm going to trial the open theme to see how it goes. It just concerns me that people may be forced to put off potentially great ideas because they are waiting for a certain theme to pop up. I want to encourage creativity here not suppress it. Another problem with voting for themes is that a lot of people vote who have no intention of entering because they want to see what others will come up with. So the actual sculptors and convertors are forced to do something on a subject that possibly none of them wanted.

nice broad or vague themes seems to work for me, but we could just as easily do without

I dont want to say an opinion in general but i will throw my experience with S&C challenges.
While i am not a sculptor i love converting existing units and always have 10-20 projects in mind but almost every time i am holding off my ideas for a challenge to begin and put them in (nothing wrong with waiting a week or two) but every time the theme of the challenge never matches what i was prepared for (could be bad luck). Also sometimes the theme is wayyy to difficult to complete for conversions only (for example monsters or BOFTA, someone that does conversions dont want to alter his newly purchased high quality models :P) but that could be the dream challenge for a sculptor.

To conclude i too suggest more open themes where everyone could take part regardless what army he is currently on. For example instead of ''Mordor'' or ''kingdoms of men'' choose ''commanders'' or ''cavalry'' or ''new units to existing armies'', challenges that everyone take part regardless of the army he is working on.

P.S By all means excuse my english and absolutely this is NOT criticism nor any offense. Simply my personal idea because i love all those challenges and have helped me do things i thought i couldnt :D
