I really think you should stop painting. Your miniatures are soo horrible that it is developing cataracts my eyes...

That freehand is unnatural. 8)

you know the base for your high elf . . . if you do change it then you could do him on a kind of cliff edge as if he was peering out into the seas or woods or something
kinda like this:

of course yours would look better than my pic on paint

Truly amazing mate!
The face is magic! The freehand.... WOW!

Wish I had so much talent!

You turn lead miniatures into the most precious diamonds mate!

Thanks alot guys :)

I've been away without an internet connection for a couple of weeks, but haven't been slacking, the mage is actually finished and I will post a picture very soon! Also, I've started on the mounted version, which will soon fill this wip thread.

I appreciate the input about the elf hero mattamomo, I think I will settle for this base however. It's just not worth risking damaging the miniature to get him off, and I'm not displeased per se, only it could have been better I guess. And I'm kind of partial to the tree..

Kristoffer, how much time does it take to paint one miniature for you (the HE Lord for example)? 32 hours? :-D

Hard to tell, I don't keep a very accurate count and it's different for every miniature (if it's mounted it's almost twice the amount of time). I don't dare to think of the time spent actually, even if it sells for up to 150 dollars, the time pay is horribly low. Maybe not as much as 32 hours on the HE lord, but almost. I tend to get a bit too absorbed and enthusiastic by freehand, and time just flies by :)

Anyway, while the water base on my finished HE mage dries, here's the mounted version I'm working on.
I couldn't resist using the same head and staff on both miniatures, I thought they were so superior to the others. The head reminds me of teclis, only less extravagant.

Once again - you're freehand is just unnatural 8) . What colours do you use for the gold NMM? It has a realistic greeny tint to it...

For gold NMM I use Snakebite leather. The white is simply skull white, and I add tiny amounts of black for shading. I could use the same staff and head twice because I got so many bits in the trade with Wade, I can actually build another 2-3 mounted mages :P (I got nowhere near the endurance to paint that many of the same miniature tho).

Cheerios! The site where I host my pictures seem a bit unstable, it should be there now tho. I use elf flesh, skull white, chaos black and scorched brown. Sure copy away, I have no shame myself when it comes to borrowing other peoples ideas ;)
