Curiously I found that certain GW products have had a little price-drop,

the ones I found (in euros, don't know wether or not this is in other currencysystems)

Mumakil: €80->€65 (around 13£ drop)
White Council: €40->€35 (around 4£ drop)

also though the plastics are more expensive, the new Galadhrim heroes seem to be a little cheaper then other single-blistered-heroes (around €2 less for Rumil or new Haldir then Gildor or old Haldir)

I thought it was worth mentioning

regards
Philippe

All of their euro prices are messed up anyway and comparable to the time when euro was 68 pence sterling. You are better of buying in pounds from the UK site if you can. I do that and save a lot of money.

I nearly fainted when I saw the words 'price drop' and 'Games Workshop' appearing in the same context....

Price drop won't do a Games Workshop?

You're kidding!

'Price drop don't do Games Workshops, but if the did, they'd probably be the best in the world.'

AAAAHAHAHAHAH! :-D :-D :-D

How dare you insinuate that Games Workshop is a “discount brand”! :-X They maintain their premium status by premium prices.

I can tell you, where I live there was a minor price drop for some items!
basically the cause for that is probaly the € gaining on the £
They just had to adjust that, because no one would buy from there anymore since shipping had become cheaper
And the Rumil and new Haldir blister are here in Belgium cheaper then regular oneheroblisters (like Twilights and Halbarad capt o/t North)

I buy my stuff at local GW because that way, our shopkeeper let us use shop-stuff for painting and modelling, actually he aided someone to make an Ent from Aluminiumfoil, a free Entµ
my moddeling/painting costs: €0,00, beat that :P

I don't agree with some things GW does (a lot of actually) but there staff at our place is very good, and while they sometimes charge ridiculous prices (like spear of Sigarus: €890 :o ) they do sometimes lower their prices, especially when currency values change!
And some price-raises are IMHO not even that bad
I've got a set of both Galadhrim Knights and Galadhrim Warriors and the boxes are IMHO way better then most I already had
I actually used a spare sword from the Knights (I used the banner, a banner in a plastic 6 cavalry set, better then Rohan) to modify an archer from the Warriors to make a fine Haldir GoHD and still had spare equipment left from both the Knights as the Warriors, they increasded like 3£ here with us (€3,5 actually) and in exchange I lost one knight and one warrior to gain 2 usual blisters, a mntd bannerbearer and Haldir, wait I lost 2 knights for WOTR making one other a captain with a spare head from the Warriors, even without these cheap gainings so basiccaly just 6 normal knights and 24 normal soldiers are €/pts cheaper then RoR or Orcs for me!

sorry for this blabbering but GW is IMHO not a matter of black-white, it's really not all bad (not all good either, thats a point worth striving for :P )

regards
Philippe

The employees at the GW stores are all enthusiastic gamers who are very nice people. This is one of the key reasons why GW became the powerhouse that it is. Now the survival of the local GW stores depends upon the personal bonds the employees have with their customers. Its unfortunate that the pricing decisions of the home office have guaranteed that some of these nice people will be out of work because their store closed.

I have not purchased LOTR in a while.... but I got some gift cards for GW for my birthday....and WOW. Prices doubled. $42 for the Tainted ringwraith.

Sad.

I cannot believe how expensive this hobby has gotten.

Some things are alot more expensive while other things like individual models in a blister pack seem to have been reduced. I think.

I'm not 100% sure...

GW homepage Shipping FAQ wrote:
Belgium, Finland, Ireland, and Netherlands Standard Shipping: Our Standard shipping method is free for all orders with a value of greater than €15. We aim to dispatch all orders within 24 hours* of being placed. For orders of less than €15 there is a charge of €5.

So, maybe if you go via the UK page and do it in pounds it might work, as I presume going via the Dutch site would be in Euros.

I think they finally realised the euro got stronger in value (a year ago actually).
It was (and still is) way cheaper to order products in the UK with higher shipment instead of picking them up yourself in a GW-store here...

The higher euro-prices were probably still based on 1 GBP = 1.65 Euro (more then a year ago)
These days it's more like 1 GBP = 1.09 Euro (for about a year already)

Imrail, you can still do both, or pay in pounds, or pay in Euros.
If you pay in Euros, you'll get the free shipping above 15 Euros...
If you pay in pounds however (which is still cheaper), they will charge shipping costs...

I just tried this with ordering a Mumak... (didn't order in the end though)
My country set as Belgium, it will cost 65 Euro (= 59.64 GBP)
My country set as UK, it will cost me 57.95 GBP (incl. 9 GBP shipment) (= 63 Euro)

I dunno if they still use the old (highly overrated) shipping rates, based on the weight of the package... so it might be a matter of trying both methods to see what's cheapest...

Calculate as much as you wish, but I keep ordering from UK-discount-stores with free international shipping (where my mumak will cost only 47.7 Euro delivered at my doorstep)! :D

See how much that differs from the price earlier this year...
A mumak at 80 euro + shipment of around 16 euro (back then), gave a total of 96 Euro... which was actually about 88 GBP, or two mumaks in a free-postage-discount store...

I don't believe you can order from the GW online store without providing an address within the country whose currency you're using. Last time I tried to order from the UK store, it wouldn't let me put in an Australian address.

Anyway, go to Wayland Games (use the link at the top) and order from them - they're cheaper.

I feel the need to point out we haven't had a single order through that advert yet.

Just to let you know, I forgot to use the link when I placed my last order, but I got in touch with WLG, and it turns out the cookies have a 180 day shelf-life, so you should still reap the benefits as I used the link to access WLG when it went up.

Well, the balance is still sitting squarely at £0.00 at the moment.
