The trolls look really cool, great work. I would only suggest to maybe wash them with some black or brown ink

I also like the hills in the backround, nice job! :yay:

Thanks very much TBB 8)

@hero of gondor: well, since our valiant leader has puled out and I seem to have picked up the reins of evil overlord, feel free to go over your ally limit. Your army will be really awesome when it's complete 8)

Cheers,
Wolfy

The title needs a bad pun to be complete :P

Good work everyone! I'm sure John will be pleased to find that this didn't fall apart when he gets back. Though I do feel a passing stir of pity for those who have fallen behind

Well, here is my mostly unpainted models for April (I couldn't find my camera for the lat six days, so started working on the orcs):

Image

And here's a more detailed shot of the three that have been started:

Image

So my list looks like this:

The Misty Mountains:

1. Druzhag the Beastcaller (epic hero)
2. Moria Goblin Warband with shield and Goblin Drum
3. Moria Goblin Warband with shield (with co. #2)
4. Moria Goblin Warband with shield (with co. #2 & 3)
5. Wild Warg pack with Warg Chieftain
6. Wild Warg pack
7. Wild Warg pack
8. Moria Goblin Warband with shortbows
9. Moria Goblin Warband with shield (with co. #2, 3, & 4)
10. Cave Troll
11. Cave Troll
12. Cave Troll

Angmar:

13. Angmar Orc warband with shields, captain, banner bearer, and shaman
14. Angmar Orc warband with shields
15. Angmar Orc warband with shields

New additions are in bold

TOTAL Points Value: 870 points
Common:Rare Formations: 4:3 formations
Common:Rare Companies: 12:3 companies
Allies: 20%

I think that's accurate...

Anyway, the goal with this army is to build it up to have enough models for both a full Misty Mountains army and a full Angmar army, so you'll be seeing some more Angmar lads in the future. The armies will be done so the models can be allied with each other and have the same bases, so if I want Wargs and Trolls in my Angmar army, I can have them :)

Expect a few Nazgul to make an appearance too later in the year, probably in either December or November so I have some epic Heroes for Angmar :)

Cheers,
Wolfy

Those Rohirrim Militia look great aelfwine!

Also looking forward to seeing your models cameda! I'm glad there are several members of our Fellowship still trudging through the solemn task of painting these monster armies :)

Myself, while work's been utter hell the last two weeks, I've managed to finish one of my three Orc Warband companies:

Enjoy!

And my April addition to the Tale of Nine Gamers army!

(I made 4 companies of Rohirrim, all converted Mithril figures)

This completes my first formation of 6 companies of Riders of Rohan:

Captain and Archers:

Coming in May
1 Company of Rohir Archers
1 Epic Hero and a company of Riders to accompany the already done Theodred.

... while I paint a further 13 Orcs and a bunch of RPG characters!

Bah! I didn't get even close to finishing my guys...I've been too wearied from work and other Devlan Mud to feel like picking up the paintbrush...

I'm going to try to finish the Orcs by the end of May, as well as a pack of Wargs...those paint up really easily, so will be simple to finish by June :/

I sympathise.

I knew time was running out and since I'm poor right now, there was no real distraction. Just painted a lot.

I think I'll be taking a break after May. I will be travelling a lot through the summer, effectively homeless till I move to Vancouver. Subletting a place in June, going home to Ireland in July/August, moving across country to Vancouver in August. I might get some painting time in in June, but there's absolutely no guarantee.

Having been working (vaguely) to a deadline since January, I am painfully aware of how slowly I paint. I've come up with some annoying problems, painting figures assembled and undercoated up to five years ago. My weird basing arrangement tends to add a lot of time to the process. I think I'll have to soon abandon my Woodland scenics "ballast" as a basing material and scuttle back to Games Workshop's modelling sand. Just easier all around.

Later or tomorrow I'll try and tot up how many points I've gotten so far.

My original display board was thrown out; this backup one is going to be discarded by the end of May. The Realm of Battle board is back in its bag until I move to Vancouver, methinks.

It's been an interesting experiment, challenging the rather odd and random way I've painted.

And, as usual, it revealed the one universal truth of LOTR miniature collecting: one always needs more Orcs.

I love your Riders of Rohan - the scheme is simple, but well executed. The shields in particular look very cleanly done.
