Hi

I was wondering if my painting has improved a bit. I think i am starting to paint a bit faster. Dunno if my painting is good. I putted my first painted miniature near my latest painted. I didn't varnished the new one yet. Because i know that every time i varnish, i mess the figure up a bit... Suggestions for improving are welcome. The white on the figure is a thing of experimenting a bit... Dunno if it's ok.. or not... I also changed the way i paint it. The other goblins are in my gallery... You will see the difference. ( They r always a bit like the first painted one.)

Your painting has definitely improved. However, I'd suggest a few things-

Try to get a bit more contrast into everything. Add significantly lighter highlights. On the red, I'd suggest giving it a few washes of Badab Black and then re-highlight whatever color of red you're using. If you have a small brush, try an extreme highlight of bright red, almost pink. If it turns out too pink, a wash of Baal Red should tone it down. On the skin, try and add lighter highlights on areas like the ear, nose, forehead--anything that would be exposed to more light in real life.

To be a bit quicker, I think a wash of Badab Black or Devlan Mud over the whole model would help provide more depth.

Other than that, nice job! :yay:

You've improved but from the pictures one of the biggest problems I see are the grey patches. If I'm correct those are your highlights. I would suggest not using white on its own to highlight but adding it to the original colour to do the highlighting. Otherwise you're doing a lot better, I love the detail on the face. Keep it up.

Ty for the comments guys ;
I normally use a wash on the figures. For some of other reason i didn't on the last one. I think i was afraid to mess it up ..
Perhaps i should try to mix a bit of paint for highlighting next time.
I am always afraid to waste paint...

What do you plan on making? That foam can be a challenge to work with so I'm interested to see what comes out of it, and hoping to be able to steal some ideas.

ugh... uhm ...just a regular hill  sorry :-D I am going to put some big rocks on it, and some smaller stones, and then put some grass on it ...
Quite disappointing probably... :(

I am making separate terrain pieces , tree, hill, ruin,...
I don't got much materials to work with at home. But i do have a lot of Foam pieces. --- so for the future i am planning to do something with water, a lake, or a river... nothing really special yet. And if i would then it would be a holiday thing. I am very busy for school lately.

other goals for future : Finish the moria box, and paint my gollum :)

lol never thought about it that way :-D
i bought those in a model building shop , i was a bit tired of collecting used cat grind ( the white stones on my other bases...)
I still got some outside in water to make it clean - it will be resting there for a long time till i am sure it's clean a bit. And then i can use them on my hill .
Really will be fun when other people play on my cat poo hill without realizing it

Yeah but this is outside the mountains :)

+ not all of them have a green base The new ones will have those rocks that someone called choco puffs...

And if you ment those bases that r totally green ,without gobs on them . Those are traps. -- ( the other side has tripwires, pits,...)

I'd be careful about how much PVA glue you put on the rocks as it leaves a shiny finish. You've got a very creative collection. I would suggest using less varnish though as the gloss finish ruins a good mini in my opinion.

Yeah i know... That varnishing has messed up allot ... i am going to try to be more careful when using it in the future. In the beginning i didn't minded the shining so much. But for my newer figures , i am going to try to get it less shiney

Yeah i suppose the sand should come before the flock,... but i didn't intended to use sand in the first place
but now i have flocked the most of it , i am reconsidering that
i think it would be nice if i could fill up those gaps with sand...
