Hi all,
Just wondering what you all use to make your army lists (mainly for SBG but also for the the other rulesets)? I used Wolf Lairs Army Builder a while back and while it's a great program, I am unable to use it at all since I haven't renewed my license in 2 years (at least how I understand it). I believe it can purchase another year of use for a little under $30.00 but i was hoping to use an older version of the program that I used 2 years ago.

Anyway, what do you use to make lists? pen and paper? Spreadsheet? Armybuilder? or is there something I am missing?

I use Army Builder. I've used it for Warhammer Ancient Battles, WH Fantasy and 40K. It just works. And I really like having all the spells and along with the profiles printed out on one page.

I have a few friends who refuse to do it any other way than by hand, and I can respect that. They say it gives them a better feel for the army. I don't know how much there is in that, but I just dig the convenience of AB.

Caught me. I don't have one I guess.

Krak, same as you. Warhammer Ancients is where I started using it. I really loved the way everything is VERY clean in the end. I still spend way to much time working on the lists but it looks really good when finished.

Pen and paper, most of the rules are already in my heads anyways, and thus when I am making an army, I build it around acertain idea....that pops into my head

E.g. I wanted to use Bat swarms and giant spiders along with the spider Queen. So i write down the particular idea, and then start adding the rest, /orcs, herose, etc./ This goes with most of the armies

It gives you a real feeling when they are down on the paper, but I also have been sometimes using LoME army builder, which is in excel office format, very handy if I don´t know the exact points.

When i have access to a PC and i am making a list i will use the LOME army builder because it does all the calculations for me. But most of the time i just write them by hand when i have a moment of inspiration, as many have said, it feels better doing it by hand, not sure why.

i like to work out what i want to use, then write it down, then run it through LoME army builder, the number of times i've had 34% with bows...

Thanks all. Good feedback and I especially liked the files on lonely knight. I probably should have clarified at the beginning that I am constantly teaching the rules and playing the game with kids that I work with. This is why I was hoping for something that listed everything (stats not just point totals) on the sheet. Armybuilder seems like the best option...I just loath their pricing.

On a similar note, is there a downloadable/printable rules summary page or document that has things like wound charts, range info, modifiers, etc...? Can't remember if that is in my large rulebook or not (that I can scan).

Thanks again. good stuff.

I use word and my trusty computer calculator, or pen and paper and my not-so-trusty calculator.

Boseafus :

May i direct you to this link, if you haven't seen it already. It is free PDF files for most of the minatures, with Special Rules and Profiles in, Combine that with the Army Builder's points values, and you should be good to go. :-D

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... Id=5700005

If that doesn't work here is OR's link to them.

The second link also has some of the newer releases in it (scroll down).

I use Army builder 2.2 and create my own data files. This way I don't have to wait for updates and I can correct bugs.

Yes. I agree with those who say that using this method is more tangible.
