Also, did anyone notice they changed the cover of the Battlehosts book? Before it had Rohan and Dunland miniatures, and now it has Dol Amroth, Morgul Knights and some Orcs.

I think the picture your thinking of was just a photo put into the "Incoming!" article because they didn't have the cover photo yet. Also they didn't want to give anything away (the small pic of the new faramir model spread quite quickly) as the new minis make up most of the cover.

is the miniature who is helmetless in the first Swan Knight formation the old Imrahil, or something else? It looks different, but then again it may just be the paint job.

I think it is Imrahil, looks like him to me. I noticed when I zoomed in on the picture you can see in the Minas Tirith knights formation the plastic knights are a lot smaller than the old metal banner bearer and the other metal knights, they also have slightly different helmets. Looks a bit strange when they are together...

I also like the conversion of the Men-At-Arms with banner on the cover, nice work there.

Same, but I've seen it somewhere before. I think it was in the Gondor in Flames book or something.

I'd love to see more Dol Amroth figures turned into plastic. Swan Knights on foot and the man-at-arms. Then I'd actually start a 'good' army composed entirely out of them.

For the ones who want to know: the SBG stats of the new minis are going to be in June`s white dwarf.

As far as I know, there is only 1 miniatures of Imrahil (1 mounted and 1 on foot)

So what do you mean with an old miniature of Imrahil?

Sorry, I worded that incorrectly. I meant the current, Imrahil. Looking at the model now, I agree he probably is just the normal Imrahil model, with a new paintjob.

That's actually the first I've heard about this Herd. It sounds interesting. I'm just a little afraid that it will cost $600 or $700 for some excuse or other.
I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks GW's sculpting standards have been dropping. I'm still new at sculpting entire minis, but I honestly think I could do better than a lot of the stuff they're offering lately.

Hmmm. I like both sets of plastic Cavalry and the Uruk drummer and banner guys but the rest don't float my boat at all. GW aren't doing themselves any favours by getting 3 year old toddlers to paint their new releases either. What happened to 'Eavy Metal? Are they on strike?

Wow I picked the right time to come back, I'm really looking forward to these plastics, as well as many of the characters. I think the Faramir needs a better paint job but could be good I think.

Looks like an okay release to me, if they ever release foot dol amroth knight then I would definitely consider an army....

It looks like this is another of those releases where they have terrible paint jobs though.  I won't really be able to decide on some of the figures until I see them in the flesh, I don't like this trend of bad paint jobs, it doesn't help the presentation of the figures. The figures might be fine, but under the horrendous paint job they look ugly. :x :?

Or they arn't as good as always.

No, they're still there and just as good as always. It would seem that they are not assigned to paint any LotR figures, unless they are part of a new plastic set. If you look at the new releases for 40k, some of the paint jobs are still stunning.

Isn't it a bit nitpicking... regarding the new Faramir?
I can understand the flak GW gets for their prices but the quality is almost always good. Bad minis and bad paitnshops are the exception not the norm.
Not to mention that Faramir is not 'that' bad.
Pumbagors are rare for GW... and as far as I know quasi nonexistant in the Lotr range!

I'll take that as a "yes". :)

Anyways, it works like this:

1) Select a battlehost (such as Guards of Ecthelion, Riders of Theoden, etc.)
2) Pay the normal amount of points for each company/formation/hero/etc. in the battlehost, following the restrictions for what companies/formations/heroes/etc. that battlehost is allowed.
3) Pay the additional points value of the battlehost (it seems to be either 25, 50, 75, or 100pts).

Each battlehost has special rules, for example: all formations in the Army of the Dead battlehost gain the berserk rule. :?

My favourite is the Army of Gorgorath. It consists of one orc formation with between twelve and eighteen companies. It counts as equiped with shields, bows, hand-weapons, and two-handed weapons. And, whenever it's captain is killed, for whatever reason, another orc takes his place and becomes the new captain (with D3 Might).

I apologize if the names of the battlehosts, or the special rules, are slightly wrong. All I've said is from memory. (There is also a small chance that I didn’t understand it properly, and everything I’ve said is wrong... )
