I haven't used either before, but a Trebuchet is only useful in Seige games and for taking out key figures, but even then it is hideously inaccurate.

I heard great things about the Bolt Thrower, as you get D6 shots each turn, which are much stronger than archers. They are more accurate; but a Trebuchet will be better for Sieges, and the Bolt Thrower is better for killing masses of troops. :)

The mods will do something about it, if something has to be done about it ;)

For me the trebuchet and the bolt thrower have their uses.

The trebuchet can be very good, but also very bad.
I killed in a battle dozens of enemy's thanks to some lucky throws.
But then, in another battle the trebuchet killed nothing and a lot of points where spoiled thanks to that, points I could better use on more warriors.

The bolt thrower does have 1 D6 shots, or 2D6 if you have an upgrade.
I do have an question about the bolt thrower though, I don't have the rulebook at hand, but can you walk with the bolt thrower?

Yes, I believe if you have two warriors touching it you can move at ahalf speed of the slowest and if you have three you can move full speed. :)

First off, to be a bit OT:

Guys, PLEASE stop with the smiley spamming. This is ridiculous! You're spamming in a thread you created! It's not funny in the least, it's annoying. I can see you two are very good friends, but y'know, you could easily go to the chatroom to have smiley conversations.....just click "One Ring chatroom" in the top-left corner.

Back OT:

I'd say the avenger bolt thrower, simply because, IMO, the model is a lot cooler.

I won't vote on this poll, because it really depends on the scenario. Siege of Minas Tirith style, go for the trebuchet - much greater siege damage. However, it also costs more of your points limit. Bolt Thrower is better against troops, and cheaper. Avenger's probably more realistic for your army: Gondor's never going to be laying siege to anyone, and any aggressors will probably outnumber you.

EDIT: Ah, the hypocrisy; I voted on the poll.
