Feanortheoldor, I like the color scheme on your Ghaladrim warriors. Different but cool.

Zakael, those High Elf spearman cloaks came out awesome. Way to go!

Here's a shot of Legolas that I just finished this morning. I've been proxying him with a Haldir model in games up to this point, so it will be nice to finally get him on the table!

Love the muted shades on him Capt, great eyes too! Thanks re the cloaks.

Elessar, they're Thunderbolt Mountain high elves, Tom Meier also sculpted some great wood elf (Lothlorien type) that Im working on...slowly. GW models are alot easier, not as much intricate details!

I had 2 visions just now. The first being, cavalry walking through some mud, and theres some water effect, but also inside the mud are some hoof impressions/tracks... etc.

The second... a dwarf riding an eagle.

lol. That could be an .... um... interesting conversion.

@ Haldir_strikes; read Feanorthenoldors comment for my view on your elves. they arfe incredible!! i bet that armour took some time.

@Zakael: loving those elf spearmen, esp. the cloaks.

anyway, here's my first test batch of high elves. as with the galadhrim (and all my armies for that matter), i've tried to paint them to a good gaming standard only. I have lots of them to paint, and at some point in my life i want to see them finished, so thats why they aren't particularly impressive individually. if you think i could improve on them without too much trouble then please comment before i paint a hundred of their pointy eared friends the same way. sorry theres only 1 pic.

Image

and heres a random picture showing all three types of elf having a spear poking competition. although the galadhrim warrior is roaring menacingly, the high elf has a bigger spear and the wood elfs cloak is billowing majestically in the none existant wind, so there is no clear winner.
Image

and this is just a WIP of some galadhrim archers. nothing special but new elves nonetheless.

Really impressive looking all ranked up like that! Also, your cloaks turn out really well at tabletop range, nice!

You know what agincourt777, I think I've still got more Galadhrim Warriors and Knights than you do... Mine are all in storage, and awaiting a re-paint, but I've got 19 companies of Warriors (12 of Handweapons and 7 of Bows) and 12 companies of Knights. You've definately got more GoTGC than me though

There are not that many hig elven armies around? Mostly galadrim... Is it because the high elves are metal?

i do really like high elves and have 100+ ready to be (re)painted (see my earlier post). reasons for not collecting high elves include:

all their poses are the same, you can only buy them with a load of numenoreans you don't really want, the spearmen are all metal and are far more detailed than the plastics so don't fit well together, they have EXTREMELY limited troop options, even when allied with numenor, they're really expensive in points so are difficult to use (esp in WoTR), they can get immensly tedious to paint, and they're slightly out of scale with everything else because they were the first ever lotr minis. and in my local gw they're randomly 50p more than everything else.

High elves are really only interesting when fielded with house rules allowing more varied unit types as Agincourt said, such as "Elnaith" or elven knights and such. It's a real pity that the Last Alliance box has all those silly "sword over head" elves, instead of them making a sword+shield set, would've made them far more popular.

Well, why don't GW make a nice plastic boxed set? Seems that tere would be miney in it too...

ya people have been begging GW to release some new sets for the high elves, but no one really knows what they are going to do with them.
