Wondering if anyone has any idea as to how to model this fortress.
Are their any sources of descriptions of it in any canon text that we can draw inspirations from?
The models in FotN, are somewhat basic and not terribly insprational.

regards
Scott

Somewhere I've seen a few images of John Howe's interpretation of it on the internet. And there's always the BFME version, though it's not particularly inspiring to look at.

I haven't seen the BFME version. Which one is it in?

BFME 2 is the one, as well as the Rise of the Witch-king Expansion.

No, Dol Guldur is NOT Barad dur. Barad dur is Sauron castle in Mordor..
Dol guldur is his hiding place in mirkwood as the necromancer.

I agree that it IS sorta confusing with that pic.

anyway BTT i would say you could just wait until the Hobbit comes out?
The possibilities are quite high that they include dol guldur... and if they do yours will look completley different of course and the "average"
LOTR player wont know what it is supposed to be... just saying...

Hey mate,

You could also try have a look around of the Age of the King Supplement which was produced by Alan(Dagorlad) and lots of the older O-R members.

If you can't find a copy I could send you the pdf - it contains Alan's own take on Dol-Guldur, and even a tutorial on how to go about it.

Yes, that's a very good point I had thought about myself after submitting this topic, DOH!
Still it would be good to see what imigery is there now, and then compare with with movies on their release...

Just note that the tower in the Age of the King was supposed to be the rebuilt version of Dol Guldur, after Sauron had been destroyed.
